The Environmental, Building, and Rescue Administration is an independent organizational unit where staff handle building permits, conduct inspections according to laws such as the Building Code (LBE) and the Environmental Code (LSO), and address issues within the scope of the Environmental Code and food legislation for the Environmental, Building, and Rescue Committee. The Environmental Department consists of 8 inspectors and one administrator. The inspectors handle matters related to the Environmental Code, food, over-the-counter medicines, health protection, as well as alcohol and tobacco.

Job Responsibilities

We offer you stimulating and developmental work with significant personal responsibility and friendly colleagues. Both positions focus on inspection and case handling within environmental protection and health protection. We make delegated decisions and prepare decision materials for the Environmental, Building, and Rescue Committee, as well as providing information, guidance, and advice to the general public and businesses.

Qualifications

Education in the field of environmental and health protection, or equivalent, along with a good understanding of working in a politically governed organization, is an advantage. Computer proficiency is required as the majority of case handling and follow-up is done via various software programs. The position requires you to be meticulous and have excellent verbal and written Swedish skills. A significant part of the work involves contact and information dissemination to the public, so strong communication skills are essential. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

To succeed in your role as an Environmental Inspector, you must enjoy working both independently and in teams. You must be able to handle multiple cases simultaneously and be service- and development-oriented. You should have good planning and organizational skills. Sound judgment and decision-making ability are other key traits for the inspector role. You have a genuine interest in helping others and strive to deliver solutions. Personal suitability is highly valued.

Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative authority for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

A Category B driver's license is required; the municipality provides a car.
