Today, approximately 320 people work at our administration, acting on behalf of the Technical Committee, the Environmental and Building Permit Committee, and the Municipal Executive Office. The Technical Department's important tasks include both administration and development in an expanding municipality. Together, we are creating the Järfälla of the future – a place for everyone.

At the Parks and Nature Unit, we work with the entire chain within the societal planning process, from planning to administration. Here, landscape architects, park managers, ecologists, forest managers, agricultural managers, and water engineers work together to develop and manage the municipality's land with a focus on ecology, health-promoting environments, attractiveness, activity, and climate. We are in an exciting startup phase with a new organization. This means you will have the opportunity to contribute and help shape both working methods and culture within the unit and the administration.

We are now looking for an experienced Park Manager who wants to help develop and manage Järfälla's parks, squares, and green environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Park Manager in Järfälla Municipality, you will have a central and responsible role in working with our public environments, from established parks and public land to new city districts like Barkarbystaden.

You are responsible for ensuring efficient, sustainable, and high-quality operations, while also contributing to the municipality's long-term development.

In this role, you will work:

  • as a client for operations and maintenance
  • close to both internal operations and contractors
  • in collaboration with, among others, the Traffic and Street Unit, the Infrastructure Unit, and other departments within the municipality

You are responsible for ensuring our outdoor environments:

  • are safe, accessible, and well-maintained
  • maintain a consistent and high quality across the entire municipality
  • develop in line with the municipality's growth

As a Park Manager, you will work within the following areas:

Operations and Maintenance

  • Responsible for planning, ordering, and following up on the operation of:
    • parks, green areas
    • playgrounds, outdoor gyms, and recreation areas
    • squares and center environments
    • stormwater ponds and green facilities
    • public toilets and service functions
  • Responsible for ground cleaning and quality in public environments

Client Role and Follow-up

  • Develop maintenance plans, specifications, and orders
  • Procure contractors
  • Follow up on contracts and internal operations based on quality and economy
  • Ensure that deliveries meet established requirements

Planning and Development

  • Participate in investments and urban development projects
  • Ensure that operational perspectives are included from early stages
  • Work on long-term development and climate adaptation of outdoor environments

Economy and Prioritization

  • Responsible for the operations budget and cost follow-up
  • Make prioritizations within given economic frameworks
  • Prepare materials for operational consequences of new investments

Communication

  • Handle cases and fault reports from citizens in digital systems
  • Write official reports
  • Communicate with citizens, departments, and authorities

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A university degree in e.g., landscape engineering / park engineering / landscape architecture or other relevant education/experience
  • Experience communicating with citizens, other units, departments, and authorities

More than 3 years of experience in:

  • Operations and maintenance of outdoor environments
  • Client role or contract management
  • Budget work and follow-up
  • Work with GIS tools and other digital administration systems

Meritorious

  • Experience from municipal operations
  • Knowledge of procurement according to LOU (Public Procurement Act)
  • Experience of project management
  • Experience working in rapidly growing environments or urban development areas

Other requirements

  • Class B driver's license
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written Swedish
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other digital tools
