Your future workplace

The Swedish Forest Agency has a mandate to carry out rewetting of previously drained peatlands. In order to further develop this work, we are therefore looking for a Forestry Consultant for a permanent position at the East Central Sweden-Gotland district. You will be the face of the Swedish Forest Agency and have daily contact with landowners regarding rewetting issues.

Rewetting involves raising the groundwater level at a site to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It is a climate measure that also has positive effects on biodiversity. The work on rewetting contributes to several of Sweden's environmental quality objectives, including Vibrant Forests and Reduced Climate Impact.

Responsibilities

Your duties as a Rewetting Planner cover the entire chain, from initially identifying potential rewetting areas to finally completing agreed-upon rewetting measures with contracted contractors. This means that along the way, you will handle incoming expressions of interest, engage in dialogue with interested landowners, process cases in our case management system, plan ditch-plugging measures, draft agreements with landowners, and hire excavator contractors. The role offers a high degree of flexibility, including both field and office work, where you have the opportunity to plan and manage your working day. It is a varied and challenging, yet very exciting job with great opportunities for personal development.

The work is independent and varied, with many different points of contact. We collaborate extensively between districts, and you will work with the support of competent and engaged colleagues who are geographically spread across the region. You will belong to the East Central Sweden-Gotland district but will operate within a larger geographical area, meaning you may occasionally need to travel and be away for longer periods.

As a Forestry Consultant, you will enjoy a varied and stimulating job with good opportunities for professional development. Depending on your qualifications, focus, and the needs of the operations, other tasks may also become relevant. Examples include supervision activities, advisory work, inventories, various projects, or our commission-based operations.

Qualifications

You have a relevant university degree with a focus on forestry, biology, physical geography, hydrology, or similar subjects. You have experience with customer meetings, including regular contacts and dialogue with external stakeholders. Relevant working life experience is an advantage. We would like you to be accustomed to working in the field in forest environments. Experience with public authority operations, knowledge of hydrology, species, the Planning and Building Act, and nature value assessments are meritorious. We value good IT/GIS skills.

We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. You are a communicative person who can engage in dialogue with landowners, authorities, and various actors in the forestry sector in a trustworthy manner. We are looking for someone who has a passion for meeting new people, has the ability to build trust, and is driven by closing agreements. You collaborate well with others while working independently towards set goals in a structured manner. You have the ability to synthesize complex information and the drive to see tasks through from start to finish, taking responsibility for moving your cases forward.

You need a value base and integrity that allow you to identify with the requirements of being a state employee.

A B-class driver's license is required.

What we offer you

We offer a permanent position at 100%, starting with a 6-month probationary period. Employment can start as soon as possible or as agreed.

We apply individual salary setting, remote work agreements, and flexitime.

Place of work: Täby, Uppsala, or Västerås.

Please submit your application by July 26.

During the summer, questions can be directed to us via the Swedish Forest Agency's switchboard, tel 010-172 10 00. We will conduct selection and contact for interview scheduling shortly after the application deadline.
