The Parks Department consists of 27 people, of whom approximately 20 work with the maintenance of Sundbyberg's parks, nature areas, and urban environments.

Your role

You are the brains and hands behind green space maintenance, with a focus on long-term sustainability. Together with the parks, streets, and facilities team, you work towards common goals — with daily dialogue with colleagues and supervisors within the operations area.

Your knowledge of outdoor environments is highly valued, and you are happy to share it with colleagues. Your impact makes a difference — in the district's greenery, the residents' quality of life, and in the nature areas.

Responsibilities (examples of what you do throughout the year)

• Pruning of trees and shrubs.
• Hedge trimming.
• Planting of trees, shrubs, perennials, and seasonal plants.
• Clearing of brush and debris.
• Nature conservation maintenance with elements of biodiversity.
• Identify potential for improvement in green spaces.
• General maintenance: weeding, mowing, cleaning.
• Winter road maintenance.

You work outdoors — rain or shine — and sometimes on early mornings and weekends.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

• A horticultural education or other education that the employer deems equivalent and suitable for the position.
• Several years of documented and current experience in practical green space maintenance.
• Good plant knowledge — especially perennials, shrubs, and trees.
• Good knowledge of tree care and pruning.
• Current experience working with handheld machines such as trimmers, leaf blowers, and hedge trimmers.
• Category B driver's license.
• Good communication skills in Swedish — both spoken and written.

Meritorious qualifications:

• Chainsaw and brush cutter license.
• Knowledge of nature conservation and biodiversity.
• Knowledge of and interest in working environmentally conscious with green issues.
• Experience in preparing plant proposals.
• IT skills, e.g., Office package.
• Experience with mechanical snow clearing.

The position is a permanent full-time position.

Start date from September 1st or as agreed.

Winter readiness may be included.
