The Environmental, Building and Rescue Administration is organizationally an independent administration where staff handles building permits, performs supervision according to, among other things, the Building Act (LBE) and the Environmental Code (LSO), and works with issues within the areas of the Environmental Code and food legislation for the Environmental, Building and Rescue Committee, which is the responsible committee. The Environmental Department consists of 8 inspectors and one administrator. The inspectors handle issues within the areas of the Environmental Code, food, over-the-counter medicines, health protection, as well as alcohol and tobacco.

Job Responsibilities

We offer you stimulating and developing work with significant personal responsibility and pleasant colleagues. Both positions are focused on supervision and handling cases within environmental protection and health protection. We make delegated decisions and prepare decision materials for the Environmental, Building and Rescue Committee, and provide information, guidance, and advice to both the public and businesses.

Qualifications

Education in the field of environmental and health protection or equivalent education, as well as a good understanding of working in a politically governed organization, is an advantage. You should be computer literate since the largest part of case handling and follow-up takes place via various computer programs. The position requires that you are meticulous and have a very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing. A significant part of the operations consists of contacts and information to the public. Therefore, it is important that you have a very good communicative ability. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

To succeed in your role as an environmental inspector, you need to enjoy working both independently and in a team. You need to be able to handle several different cases simultaneously and be service- and development-oriented. You should have a good ability to plan and organize your work. Good judgment with decision-making ability are other important qualities in the role of inspector. You have a genuine interest in helping others and strive to deliver solutions. Personal suitability is given great importance.

Within the framework of the National Minorities Language Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

A Category B driver's license is a requirement; the municipality has a car available.
