Join us in developing Verket – one of Sweden's most unique cultural environments
We are looking for an Operations Manager who wants to coordinate, develop, and bring together the operations at the industrial history museum Verket in Avesta. Here, you will have the opportunity to shape the next chapter in Verket's development together with dedicated employees, colleagues, and partners.
Verket is a place where industrial history, contemporary art, pedagogy, events, and visitor services meet. Here you will find the annual contemporary art exhibition Avesta Art – a regional assignment, school programs, tours, holiday activities, café, shop, and a vibrant public program. During the coming year, the operations will also be developed with a new football museum planned to open in 2027, as part of the museum organization at Verket.
As Operations Manager, a supervisory role, you will have a key role in creating structure, coordination, and good conditions for the operations. You work closely with employees in daily life and contribute to the operations functioning well for both visitors, colleagues, and partners.
With us, you become part of Culture Avesta – an operation that believes in the power of culture to create meetings, participation, and hope for the future.
About the role
As Operations Manager, you are responsible for leading, coordinating, and developing the daily museum operations at Verket. The role is supervisory and involves planning, prioritizing, and coordinating the operation's resources so that the operation functions efficiently and maintains high quality.
You work close to the operations and are available as support for employees in their daily work. By coordinating, prioritizing, and creating structure, you contribute to the operations functioning well and people succeeding in their assignments. You collaborate closely with the Cultural Director and become an important link between the different parts of the operation.
The role combines creative and strategic development work with close operational responsibility. One day you work with operational planning and development, budget monitoring, or occupational health and safety issues. The next day, you solve practical questions regarding staffing, hospitality, visitor service, or an upcoming event.
Your main responsibilities include:

You are used to coordinating people and operations and have the ability to create engagement, participation, and good collaborative relationships. When something unexpected happens, you remain calm, find solutions, and help the operation move forward.
We also believe that you are development-oriented, used to monitoring the external environment, and see opportunities in new ways of working, collaborations, and digital solutions. You appreciate meeting people and understand the importance of professional hospitality in a public operation.
Formal qualifications
We are looking for you who have relevant university education within, for example, culture, museums, tourism, pedagogy, leadership, or other education and experience that the employer considers equivalent.
