Do you want to contribute to the municipality's transformation journey, where we are creating even better conditions to meet the needs of those who live, work, and visit Nynäshamn Municipality – today and in the future? Do you want to work in a key role where you can contribute to a legally secure, efficient, and service-oriented building permit process? Then this temporary position might be right for you. Welcome to our team!

Nynäshamn is a municipality near Stockholm that is continuously growing to accommodate both more people and more development. It is both interesting and challenging to preserve and develop our countryside and nature while our urban areas expand.

The position is a temporary assignment from August 17 to December 31, 2026.

Responsibilities

As a temporary building permit case handler and building inspector, you will primarily handle simpler building permit cases, notification cases, and implementation issues related to one- and two-family dwellings. The role involves independently processing cases, making technical assessments, reviewing documentation, making decisions under delegation, and providing guidance to applicants, builders, and other interested parties.

The work includes, among other things, handling simpler building permits, start notifications, technical consultations, site visits, final consultations, and final notifications. You will also work with notification-required measures and follow up to ensure that construction activities are carried out in accordance with planning and building legislation, current decisions, and established control plans.

Depending on previous experience, some supervision cases or other related tasks within the building permit group's area of responsibility may also be included. The position also involves participating in development work as needed and contributing to the group's joint work towards efficient, legally secure, and service-oriented authority operations.

About the Workplace

The department is responsible for comprehensive planning, land and development issues, environmental and climate issues, the societal building process, traffic and infrastructure planning, building permit and supervision activities, map production, geographic data (GIS), and analysis for the municipality's physical planning in parts concerning detailed planning and area regulations, as well as issues regarding architecture and design. Nature and cultural environment issues are also within the department's area of responsibility. The department is organized into four units: staff, planning and building permits, land and development, and strategic planning.

The Planning and Building Permits Unit fulfills, on behalf of the Societal Building Committee, the authority and supervision responsibilities for the building sector within the municipality. The unit primarily works with detailed planning, permit assessment, coastal protection regulations, supervision of the built environment, guidance, and counseling in accordance with legislation and with high quality, as well as high service in authority operations. The unit currently consists of a unit manager and eleven employees, including one building permit architect, four planning architects, and six building permit engineers.
