About the School

Myranskolan has approximately 150 students from preschool class to grade 6, as well as an after-school center (fritidshem). The school is located in Koskullskulle. At Myranskolan, a teaching supervisor and a class mentor work primarily with the social aspects of the curriculum in each class in grades 1–6. The after-school center complements the school by developing students' abilities through various forms of expression, based on the students' interests. The school also employs a special needs teacher, a school counselor, and a school nurse who collaborate in teams for the benefit of the students.

Job Responsibilities

As a class mentor, you follow a class in grades 1–6 throughout the day. Together with the teachers, you are responsible for creating safety, well-being, and a conducive study environment. You are an active resource in the classroom and at the after-school center, and you are responsible for recess supervision and recess activities. You will have contact with guardians regarding social issues and share responsibility with the teachers for documentation concerning norms and values. The role also includes substituting for staff absences at the school and the after-school center. The job includes responsibilities and work at the after-school center before and after school hours.

Qualifications

Minimum upper secondary education, education within child and/or leisure fields, activity leader education within the after-school center, or other education deemed equivalent/relevant by the employer. Experience in creating safety, knowledge of the school's value base, values, and norms. Experience from schools, after-school centers, or other activities where you have led groups of children is advantageous.

You should have good social skills, be self-initiating, proactive, responsible, and have a positive attitude towards colleagues, students, and guardians. We expect you to have good communication skills and proficiency in the Swedish language, both spoken and written. Personal suitability is highly valued.

Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is advantageous when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.
