The Nephrology Section at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) has a broad profile and is responsible for basic kidney care in southwestern Scania as well as advanced nephrological care in the Southern Healthcare Region. The Nephrology Section includes four hemodialysis units and two inpatient wards, one located in Lund and one in Malmö. Additionally, we operate clinics in both locations offering a wide range of diagnoses and care for kidney transplant patients. The section also includes a unit for training patients in peritoneal dialysis and home hemodialysis. Within the Nephrology Section, experimental and clinical research is conducted focusing on dialysis, systemic vasculitis, GFR markers, proteinuria, transplantation, and epidemiology.

Job Description

We are seeking three Senior Consultants (Overläkare) for the Nephrology Section in Lund. The positions combine clinical work with development and quality improvement within the section's areas of operation.

The positions have a special focus on dialysis operations and quality development. The assignments include the development of care processes, implementation of evidence-based practices, and participation in the section's strategic development work.

One of the positions involves specific development responsibility in the area of mineral metabolism and skeletal impact in chronic kidney disease, with a focus on operational development, knowledge implementation, and collaboration within and outside the section.

In the role of Senior Consultant, you will work in several parts of the operation, including outpatient clinics, inpatient care, consultancy services, and dialysis operations. Supervision of doctors in training as well as participation in teaching and development work is included. Research and academic engagement are welcomed and encouraged.

Qualifications

You who apply are a licensed physician with the right to practice in Swedish healthcare and have:

• Specialist competence in nephrology
• Swedish language skills at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale
• Completed or planned course in clinical supervision
• Full-time service for at least five years (documented effective time)
• Clinical proficiency and independence within nephrology
• Documented teaching and supervisory merits
• Doctorate (Disputation)

A doctorate and/or specialist degree can be credited for a total of six months of clinical service.

Experience with both acute and chronic hemodialysis as well as peritoneal dialysis is desirable. Experience in quality development, process leadership, research, or management roles within nephrology is an advantage.

You have good ability to collaborate with both employees and patients. Furthermore, you work in a structured and quality-conscious manner and have an interest in improvement and development work. Personal suitability is given great weight.

At a university healthcare unit, physicians are required to have pedagogical experience and education. This you may have acquired through supervising, for example, nursing and medical students as well as doctors in training, and as co- or main supervisor for doctoral candidates. Clearly describe in your application completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience of supervision and teaching at different levels.
