The Role of Café Assistant

As a café assistant within School Services, you are responsible for the daily operations of the school café and contribute to creating a welcoming and pleasant meeting place for students and staff. You are responsible for the café's assortment, orders, food handling, and daily routines, while also contributing to the school's work on safety and adult presence in shared environments.

The role also includes mentoring students who are completing internships or work-based learning in the café operations and contributing to a positive learning environment. You work closely with the school's safety team, student health services, and other staff, as well as collaborating with colleagues within School Services.

In this role, you will work with, among other things:

• planning, preparation, and sales of the café's assortment
• cash handling and responsibility for the daily operation of the café
• food handling, self-control, and work according to current legislation and routines
• responsibility for order, hygiene, and cleaning within the café operations
• mentoring students completing internships or work-based learning
• development of the café's offerings and working methods
• contributing to well-being, safety, and adult presence in the school's shared environments

The work involves both practical responsibility for café operations and an important relationship-building task in the daily school life.

Your Profile

You are service-oriented, responsible, and have an easy time building good relationships. You work in a structured manner and have the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize your work to ensure the café operations function well in daily life. At the same time, you enjoy collaborating with colleagues and other departments and actively contribute to a good work climate.

In this role, you meet both young people and adults daily, which requires a professional and positive approach. You feel confident in your interactions with young people and contribute through your presence to a welcoming, safe, and pleasant environment in the school's shared spaces. You are solution-oriented, take initiative, and have a good understanding of hygiene, quality, and food safety. Through your commitment and service mindset, you contribute to a positive experience for both students and staff. You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, as this is required in daily work. Personal suitability will be given great weight.

We are looking for someone who has:

• a high school education
• experience working in a café, restaurant, large kitchen, or other food-related business
• experience with food handling as well as knowledge of food hygiene, self-control, and food safety according to current legislation
• experience working with hygiene, cleaning, and self-control routines in food-related businesses
• experience working independently and taking responsibility for the daily operation of a business
• good computer skills

It is an advantage if you have:

• education in hospitality and food or other relevant education
• education in food hygiene or HACCP
• experience with orders, purchases, and inventory management
• experience in preparing and selling food
• experience mentoring students, young people, or interns
• relevant experience working in schools or the public sector

School Services supports the upper secondary school's operations through administration, service, and operationally close support. The position is located at Elof Lindälv Gymnasium and is organizationally part of School Services.

We are a team of approximately 10 employees with broad competence in school administration, operational support, and service functions. Together, we work to create good conditions for students, staff, and school leadership. Here, we help each other, share knowledge, and develop common working methods together. We work close to the operations and collaborate between schools to create quality, structure, and good service.

We offer a permanent full-time position starting as agreed.
