Reliability Engineer at Outokumpu in Avesta
Do you want to strengthen operational reliability in a world-leading industrial operation while contributing to a more sustainable future?
Outokumpu in Avesta is now looking for a Reliability Engineer who wants to develop both our production facilities and shared utilities, with a focus on availability, efficiency, and cost awareness.
About the role
As a Reliability Engineer with us, you play a central role in developing and improving the operational reliability of our facilities. The role is broad and combines technical analysis with economic considerations and improvement initiatives.
You work both operationally and strategically to identify areas for improvement, analyze data, and drive actions that strengthen availability and reduce costs. The role includes responsibility for both production-related equipment and shared utilities.
An important part of the job is to contribute to well-founded decisions through analysis – not least regarding inventory management, spare parts, and capital tie-up – to ensure a balanced and efficient maintenance operation.
You collaborate closely with production, maintenance, and other functions and are a key part of developing methods, structures, and competence within operational reliability.
Your main responsibilities
- Identify, analyze, and monitor risks related to functional safety and reliability
- Analyze production losses and cost drivers to find root causes and drive improvements
- Develop and optimize maintenance strategies, criticality classifications, and equipment structures
- Contribute to the development of methods and processes within operational reliability and maintenance
- Work with economic analyses related to spare parts, warehousing, and inventory optimization
- Collaborate on shared utilities and contribute to a holistic perspective in facility management
- Participate in improvement initiatives related to technology, methods, and digital solutions within maintenance
- Provide support in technical investigations and contribute to prioritizing actions and minor investments
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who has an interest in both technology and economics and is motivated by improving methods and creating value in the business.
We believe you have:
- A minimum 3-year university degree, for example in mechanical engineering, technical physics, industrial economics, or equivalent
- An interest in and ability to work with data analysis and improvement work
- Good system proficiency, preferably experience with maintenance systems
- Good knowledge of reading technical drawings is an advantage
Meritorious:
- We welcome experience in the field but are also open to newly graduated candidates with the right profile
- Experience working in maintenance, production, technology, or analysis
- Experience with lifting equipment
To succeed in the role, we see that you:
- Have an analytical and structured approach to work
- Thrive in a role with many interfaces and collaborate well with others
- Are curious and driven by understanding the connections between technology, economics, and operations
- Take initiative and drive issues forward
- Communicate clearly and are confident in contributing to discussions and decisions
What we offer
At Outokumpu, you get more than a job – you become part of a global and technology-strong organization where development, sustainability, and continuous improvements are a natural part of everyday life. Here you have the opportunity to grow, develop, and influence the future of our production in Avesta.
We offer among other things:
- Competitive salary and attractive benefits package
- Good opportunities for development and further education
- A secure, inclusive, and modern work environment
- A role where you make a difference and see the results of your work
- Collective agreement, benefits, and a strong safety culture
