Meal Service is a department within Uppsala Municipality that operates restaurants in preschools, schools, upper secondary schools, senior restaurants, and delivers meals to residents in care and nursing homes. Every day we serve 45,000 meals and continuously develop our operations to stay at the forefront. Meal Service has been nominated and competed in several public gastronomy competitions with excellent results. We are now looking for a service-oriented and creative cook for the kitchen at Myrgången Preschool.

Description of Duties

The work includes cooking and baking from scratch as much as possible, preparing special diets, and developing the serving menu and allergen-friendly options. It also includes performing self-controls in accordance with current legislation, cleaning and disinfecting utensils, machines, and work surfaces, and restocking china, cutlery, glassware, and napkins. As a cook at Meal Service, you work with both cooking and serving, meeting guests directly. Your working hours will be 07:00–15:30. At Myrgången Preschool, we serve approximately 110 portions per day.

The duties include:

• Handling dishwashing
• Managing daily cleaning routines
• Handling special diets
• Receiving deliveries
• Unpacking goods
• Working with HACCP
• Placing supply orders
• Placing meal orders
• Responsibility for Mateo (meal management system)
• Inventory
• Documenting waste figures
• Supervising any temporary staff or interns

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a certified education in Restaurant or Large-scale Catering. A requirement for the position is that you have good knowledge of food hygiene and self-control HACCP principles.

For the position, the following are meritorious:

• Knowledge of special diets.
• Experience with menu planning and raw material handling.
• Good knowledge of Swedish, both oral and written.
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft 365.
• Knowledge of diet data systems.
• Category B driver's license.

You are flexible and adapt easily to changed conditions, with the ability to quickly shift both work methods and perspectives and see opportunities in the new. You collaborate well with others and build relationships through a listening, smooth, and communicative approach, where you also handle any conflicts in a constructive manner.

In meetings with others, you are calm, attentive, and service-oriented, with a clear desire to help and find solutions. You work systematically by planning, organizing, and prioritizing your tasks efficiently within given timeframes. At the same time, you have a meticulous work style and a strong awareness of quality, ensuring that set goals and standards are met.

Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.
