Nurses Wanted for Ambulance Service in Växjö

The ambulance service has approximately 160 employees who are primarily responsible for ambulance readiness throughout Kronoberg County, with ambulance stations in eight locations. The ambulance in Växjö is responsible for ambulance readiness in Eastern Kronoberg, and the ambulance in Ljungby is responsible for Western Kronoberg. The work performed at the stations in the eastern part of the county includes Växjö, Alvesta, Lenhovda, Hovmantorp, and Tingsryd. The western part of the county includes Ljungby, Älmhult, and Markaryd.

Our primary mission is to be available for the county's approximately 200,000 residents, but in cases of acute life-threatening conditions, there are no geographical limits. We also perform ambulance assignments to hospitals for specialist care in other regions. Additionally, there are two light-care ambulances staffed by specialist nurses, primarily tasked with driving planned transports during daytime hours, Monday to Saturday.

Allowance for inconvenient working hours

For those working inconvenient hours, an extra shift allowance (OB) applies. The allowance is multiplied by 1.5, providing an extra bonus for those working full-time according to a rotation schedule.

Reduced working time after each night shift

Within rotation schedules where night work comprises 10 hours, you are allocated 4 extra hours to your annual balance. This enables flexibility in scheduling and gives you more time for recovery.

Job Responsibilities

As a nurse, you take care of people of all ages who have suffered from acute illnesses or injuries. The nurse examines, refers, and treats the patient before and during transport to a hospital or other healthcare facility. We work in teams, and there is always at least one specialist nurse in each vehicle.

Qualifications

We are primarily looking for you who are a nurse with specialist education in ambulance care. However, general nurses are also warmly welcome to apply.

As a person, you are an engaged and positive colleague who contributes to a good work environment. You find it easy to collaborate and adapt quickly to new situations. To thrive with us, it is important that you are confident in your professional role and have a positive attitude. Your good ability to meet patients and relatives in a professional manner is seen as a given.

To be eligible for employment, you must:

• Hold a Category B driver's license.
• Meet the medical requirements necessary for traffic safety to obtain a driver's license permit for Category C1. For more information, read about medical requirements on the Swedish Transport Administration's website.
• Pass the ambulance service's physical fitness tests.
• Pass a driving test with our internal driving instructors.
