The role of Testing Engineer is central to testing and verifying our unmanned helicopter system, the Skeldar V-200. It is a practical, varied, and technically challenging assignment where close collaboration with colleagues is a natural part of daily life. Testing Engineer at UMS Skeldar:
The team currently consists of team leaders, technicians, remote pilots, and testing engineers working in a dynamic environment characterized by high tempo and close collaboration. As a Testing Engineer, you are responsible for the planning, execution, and reporting of ground and flight tests for the Skeldar V-200. The role is practical, varied, and technically challenging, involving close collaboration across engineering, operations, and customer-facing activities. Tasks are performed both independently and in close cooperation with colleagues.
Travel to nearby test sites is a recurring part of the role and usually takes place at least once a week, sometimes several times a week depending on ongoing test activities. As part of the role, travel and assignments at various locations, including international operations, may also occur depending on project and customer needs.
In the role of Testing Engineer on the flight operations department, you will:
- Assist and lead remote pilots in activities required before, during, and after test flights.
- Assist and lead the initial startup of the UAS after production and/or reconfiguration.
- Prepare, coordinate, plan, and execute test activities, including tests outside the normal flight envelope.
- Develop test plans and test cards, monitor flight test data, perform post-processing, support data analysis, and compile clear test reports.
- Plan test flights together with development engineers based on verification and investigation needs.
- Participate in customer demonstrations and operational displays.
- Monitor system behavior during flights and make operational decisions in real-time.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret flight data, write and review test reports, and provide feedback to the development team.
- Identify deviations, perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis, and propose corrective actions.

To succeed in this role, we see that you have a post-secondary technical education or equivalent work experience. We welcome applicants from various technical backgrounds where work with complex systems, testing, verification, integration, or technical development has been a natural part of daily life. You may have worked as a testing engineer, systems engineer, integration engineer, automation engineer, or in other technically advanced operations. It is an advantage if you have experience in testing activities and effective test methods, a background as a flight test engineer, or experience within UAS. Experience from the aviation and defense industry is meritorious. Good proficiency in IT tools is important, and experience with Matlab is meritorious.
The position requires proficiency in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
A valid B-class driver's license is required. BE-, C/C1-, and C1E licenses are meritorious. Pilot certificates for manned and/or unmanned aircraft are also meritorious.
