Job Description
AVL is now looking for a Motor Tester / Test Cell Engineer to join our team in Gothenburg!
In this role, you will become part of an advanced test and validation environment where you work with the development and verification of modern powertrains – from combustion engines and electric motors to gearboxes and other rotating components.
This is a role for you who wants to work close to the technology and take overall responsibility for testing. You drive and conduct tests in the test cell, combining practical work – such as reconfiguring, configuring, and troubleshooting test objects – with the analysis of measurement data and interpretation of results. The work requires a good understanding of systems, control, and measurement methodology, where you can independently identify deviations, troubleshoot root causes, and propose technical solutions.
You will work on varied assignments, often involving prototype and component testing within the automotive industry. Depending on the project, you may work on everything from engine and powertrain testing to the verification of individual components, where you are expected to contribute both operationally in the test environment and in technical analysis.
The role suits you with an engineering background and a strong technical interest in engines, electrification, data analysis, and measurement technology.
As a Motor Tester / Test Cell Engineer, you work with testing and verification in advanced test cells and rigs. You combine practical work – assembly, configuration, and troubleshooting – with the analysis of measurement data and technical follow-up.
The role is consultancy-based, meaning you work on different assignments for our customers in the automotive industry. This gives you the opportunity to work on varied projects – from powertrain testing to prototype and component testing – and develop broad competence.
The work is carried out in close collaboration with customers and colleagues and requires a good understanding of systems as well as a structured approach to work.
- Plan, execute, and follow up on engine and component testing according to test plans
- Install, assemble, and configure test objects in test cells and rigs
- Configure measurement systems, hardware, and software prior to testing
- Ensure quality in test data and analyze and interpret results
- Troubleshoot test setups and systems (HW/SW) and drive improvement work
- Document results and produce technical documentation
- Maintain and develop test cell equipment
