About Us

Since 2016, Region Sörmland has offered a highly regarded Post-Graduate Training Program (PTP) for psychologists. You will have your main placement and supervisor within one department, while gaining insight and knowledge of other departments through study visits and opportunities for observation (auscultation). You will participate in an introductory day with other PTP psychologists, followed by regular seminars, lectures, and a 5-day investigative training course. The Study Director is responsible for the program structure and continuous evaluation, and is available for discussions, advice, and support.

Region Sörmland's three main towns are Eskilstuna, Nyköping, and Katrineholm, with clinics also located in smaller communities. The current PTP position is located at the Psychiatric Clinic in Nyköping, approximately a 1-hour commute from Stockholm. Training days for the PTP program are held in various locations, so you must be willing and able to travel to locations other than your workplace on those days.

The Psychiatric Clinic in Nyköping is an adult psychiatric specialist clinic with a broad outpatient mandate. We work with the assessment, investigation, and treatment of adult patients with specialist psychiatric care needs. As a PTP psychologist with us, you will have the opportunity to develop in a department with varied patient cases, good supervision, and close collegial support.

Your Responsibilities

The role at the above-mentioned workplace involves working in a cross-professional environment where you, as a psychologist, play a central role. In addition to individual-focused work such as psychological treatment and investigations, the following tasks may also be included in the role:

  • Consultative work and, in some departments, supervision of staff groups.
  • Organizational and method development work.
  • Support, advice, and knowledge dissemination.
  • Collaboration with both external and internal stakeholders.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a psychology degree or will obtain one during the spring semester of 2026. You should be curious about new knowledge, willing to work actively to develop your professional skills, and eager to grow in your professional role. Experience of working in healthcare and social care is meritorious.

You must be able to work independently. Since teamwork is an important part of all our departments, you should also be willing and able to work together with others. You should have good verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of multiple languages is an asset. We welcome applicants from different cultures and backgrounds. A Category B driver's license is required in some departments.

We would appreciate it if you are interested in working for Region Sörmland in the future and have a connection to the local area. The Region's STP Study Director is available as support if you have thoughts about specialization in the future. This recruitment follows the region's competency model for recruitment. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
