About the Job
Are you a driven, engaged, secure, and trust-building person? Do you want to support and encourage others to take responsibility and grow as individuals? Then you might be the person our residents at the group home on Storgatan in Slite want to support them in their daily lives.
At Adela LSS, we are now looking for a residential support worker for a permanent position at our group home in Slite on the island of Gotland. The position is approximately 90% full-time.
The group home, which has a large yard, consists of six apartments and is located a stone's throw from the sea. Here live people with intellectual disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorders.
At Adela LSS, we always meet the individual based on their needs and prerequisites. We work with a pedagogical and low-arousal approach, follow clear routines, and use method support for everyone living in our group homes.
We believe in close leadership, which means there will be both a team leader and a manager on site in the operation.
About the Position
The work involves support and service to the people living in the group home so that they can live a life like others. This means you are responsible for providing help and support in their daily lives and creating a safe and developmental environment for those living here.
It is important that you follow the daily structure of the residents and the operation, maintain contact with healthcare, psychiatry, and public dental care, administer medication, interpret needs and wishes, support with shopping and usual household tasks such as cleaning and service, participate in various leisure activities, support social contacts, and maintain a positive work environment. Documentation and follow-ups are also an important part of the work.
As a permanent employee, you will also be the contact person for one or more residents. You work on a schedule with varying working hours, including mornings, days, evenings, sleeping on-call, and every other weekend as well as public holidays.
Who are you?
We are looking for you who have a genuine interest in working within LSS (Support and Service for Persons with Functional Disabilities) and have the ability to understand the life situation of people with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. You should have knowledge of neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPD), low-arousal interaction, and clarifying pedagogy. You need experience in similar work, preferably within LSS group homes, and should have an education in the field such as assistant nurse, childcare worker, leisure-time pedagogue, or equivalent. Additional courses and further education in disabilities and mental health, epilepsy, and low-arousal interaction are meritorious.
A requirement we have is that you can read, write, and understand documentation. Therefore, you must master the Swedish language very well, both in speech and writing.
For us, it is also important that you, in addition to understanding and knowledge regarding intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders, have good cooperation skills, are flexible, engaged, and curious, and take responsibility for your tasks. We also see that you have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Greatest weight is placed on personal suitability.
