Bomhus Library is located in the People's House in the heart of Bomhus Centre. It is a vibrant meeting place for all ages, offering books, audiobooks, e-books, and magazines – both on-site and digitally via our e-services. Our bright premises feature reading nooks, study spaces, and a children's department that inspires a love of reading. We regularly arrange activities such as reading circles and author visits – opportunities to meet and get inspired. Through collaborations with schools and associations, we adapt our operations to local needs. We are three employees who together create a lively meeting place. RESPONSIBILITIES
As a librarian, you work on reading promotion initiatives and plan and implement program activities for both children and adults. The role also includes overall responsibility as a program coordinator for the local libraries, where you drive, coordinate, and further develop the program offering in close collaboration with colleagues and external partners. Together with your colleagues at Bomhus Library, you work closely with the residents of Bomhus and contribute to strengthening the love of reading and developing an attractive meeting place.
- In this role, you have a specific responsibility to develop and drive activities aimed at adults.
- You are part of Gävle Library's joint program group and coordinate programs and communication for the local libraries via our information channels.
- The role involves planning and administrative tasks where you act as a central coordinator and link between employees and the communications department.
- You collaborate with local actors, schools, associations, and cultural practitioners to create a varied and inspiring offering.
- You contribute to developing the operations through environmental analysis and by testing new ideas.
- The assignment also includes daily library work, receiving and leading groups, and staffing at other libraries within the unit.
QUALIFICATIONS
Formal Competencies:
- University education in library and information science
- Work experience within library operations
- Experience in meeting children and young people, for example through work or voluntary engagement
- Experience in leading groups and speaking in front of groups
- Category B driver's license
Merits for the position:
- Experience in planning, implementing, and coordinating program activities
- Experience with digital library systems, such as Quria
To succeed in the role, you are:
- Structured: You work in a structured manner and according to clear processes, plan and organize your work well, and ensure that tasks are completed within set timeframes. You have a good ability to coordinate tasks and activities, drive the work forward, and create structure in joint work. Furthermore, you are meticulous and systematic in your administrative work.
- Confident and relationship-building: You are confident in your library role and build trust when meeting people of different ages and contexts. You are also comfortable leading groups and giving presentations to different target groups.
- Communicative: You have good communication skills; you express yourself clearly and concretely and adapt your language, both orally and in writing, to the recipient and situation.
- Flexible: You have the ability to adapt to the needs of the operations and thrive in a role with varying tasks.
Employment type: Permanent employment.
Duration: Permanent.
Working hours: Schedule. According to schedule: Day, evening, and weekend shifts.
