In the central primary school area of Sandviken Municipality, you will find Murgårdsskolan, Årsunda, Österfärnebo, Västanbyn, Sandbacka, Kungsgården, and the Mother Tongue Unit. Here, we actively work to strengthen students' reading, language, and media and information literacy. In our schools, students meet dedicated employees and a culture characterized by collaboration, trust, and development. With us, we make each other better.

In Sandviken Municipality, there is a centrally employed school library coordinator who coordinates the school library network for the municipality's primary schools, supports school library staff, promotes school library development, and acts as a link between schools and public libraries.

We are now strengthening the organization in the Central Primary School Area with two full-time positions focused on reading promotion work and the pedagogical mission of school libraries. Together with our school library coordinator, you will help create something new.

Job Responsibilities

The assignment aims to long-term strengthen students' interest in reading, language development, and media and information literacy through structured and equal support to the schools. The positions are organized centrally and target several units, creating continuity and stability over time.

You contribute by:

• planning and implementing reading promotion measures for students
• supporting students and staff in work with media and information literacy (MIL)
• developing and implementing pedagogical activities related to the school library's mission
• collaborating with school staff and the municipality's libraries
• contributing to equality and continuity in school library operations over time

• sharing knowledge, ideas, and methods
• creating sustainable solutions that benefit students' learning

Qualifications

To succeed in the role, the person needs to be confident in meetings with children, young people, and adults, as well as have the ability to work independently in a proactive assignment. A pedagogical approach, good collaboration skills, and a genuine interest in reading, language, and information competence are central. The assignment also requires flexibility, initiative, and the ability to create trusting relationships across several units.

For the assignment, the following is required:

• Academic education in, for example, pedagogy, library science, communication, culture, or equivalent
• Good ability to express oneself in Swedish, both orally and in writing

Education and experience such as drama pedagogue, preschool teacher, teacher, librarian, journalist, or communicator can be particularly relevant. Experience in reading promotion work, work in a school environment, or collaboration between school and library is meritorious, as is knowledge of MIL and digital tools.
