About the position
There is now an opportunity to join the team at the Health Protection Unit in Örebro Municipality! We are a team of 13 fantastic employees. We consist of two groups – the Sewerage Group and the Health Protection Group. The Sewerage Group works with supervision of small sewage treatment facilities, while the Health Protection Group handles supervision of health protection activities such as schools, preschools, swimming pools, housing inspections, and complaints regarding the living environment. This fixed-term position is located within the Health Protection Group.
Together with other employees, you will plan and develop the supervision work, where collaboration with other departments and business operators is a key part. We have extensive delegation of responsibility and authority. Here, you will have the opportunity to work independently while collaborating closely with colleagues who have broad experience and diverse educational backgrounds. We offer flexible working hours, and you have great freedom to influence your schedule and content based on your interests and competencies. Additionally, there will be opportunities for further specialization within a specific area.
Examples of tasks:
- Case management in our case handling systems
- Plan supervision and conduct inspection visits
- Independently handle qualified tasks such as investigations, planning, and follow-up within your specialty area
- Write reports, produce investigation materials, and formulate decision documents
About the workplace
At the Environmental Department in Örebro, over 60 people work to create a better environment for everyone. We work on behalf of the Building and Environment Committee and are divided into three units with different focus areas: Health Protection, Environmental Protection, and Food. The Health Protection Unit works for the individual's safety at home and in public spaces, as well as for reducing environmental impact and promoting a sustainable society.
For several years, we have worked fully digitally in one of Örebro's most modern offices – Citypassagen. Since Citypassagen is located right next to the transport hub, it offers excellent commuting opportunities and modern digital infrastructure.

Qualifications
As a person and colleague, you are unpretentious and happy to share your knowledge and experiences with your colleagues. To succeed in your role, being calm and stable even in pressured situations is essential, making your good communication and collaboration skills vital tools. You must master the Swedish language to the extent that you can easily communicate with colleagues and other parties, as well as document activities in writing. It is important that you can take responsibility and plan and structure your workdays and weeks based on set goals and the needs of the operations. We also value that you can adapt easily to changed conditions, handle emerging problems, and thrive in a dynamic environment.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Requirements:
- Appropriate university or college degree in a relevant field for environmental and health protection
- Category B driver's license
Merits:
- Experience in public authority operations
- Documented knowledge of the Environmental Code and experience reading and using legal texts
- Relevant experience working with environmentally hazardous activities from municipal, state, or private sectors
