Do you want to work close to commercial shipping in a smaller company where your skills make a real difference? Holmbergs Marin och Motorteknik AB is now looking for a mechanic who wants to work with heavy drive trains, ship repairs, and qualified troubleshooting.

Here, you will become part of a small, specialized team with high technical competence and significant personal responsibility. This is a role for you who want more than traditional mechanic work – whether you already have experience with marine systems or currently work with heavy vehicles, construction/agricultural machinery, or industrial service and want to take the next step in your career.

We work exclusively with shipping companies, industrial companies, and public operations. We have, among other things, the central and exciting task of being responsible for all scheduled maintenance on the Swedish Transport Administration's ferries in Middle Sweden, which constitutes a fixed and central part of our daily operations.

About the position

The work is varied and combines qualified field work with work in our workshop. You operate from a service vehicle in a flexible and independent role. Since most of the work takes place on-site with our customers on board ships, travel in the local area is a natural part of everyday life.

The duties include, among other things:

• Installation, service, and total overhauls of propulsion engines, power generators, and reverse gears.
• Advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of gearboxes, bearings, drive belts, and mechanical components.
• Precision work such as shaft alignment and work on propeller and rudder arrangements.
• Design, installation, and repair of hydraulic equipment and hydraulic systems.
• Qualified troubleshooting and diagnostics of control and monitoring systems.

Requirements for the position:

• At least 2 years of work experience in similar work (e.g., repair of heavy vehicles, trucks, construction machinery, agricultural machinery, or heavy industry).
• Good knowledge of Swedish (spoken and written) as well as English (spoken).
• Category B driver's license (an absolute requirement as you depart with a service vehicle).

Meritorious:

• Experience with welding and machining (lathe and milling).
• Basic electrical knowledge.
• Previous experience within the marine industry or with ship repairs.
