We are looking for a Traffic Controller for the Public Transport Department within Upplands Väsby Municipality. The Public Transport Department is responsible for publicly funded travel operated in-house, starting January 1, 2027. You will join a newly formed unit focused on quality and care, responsible for school and care transport for the municipality's residents.

About us

The Public Transport Department will carry out school and care transport in-house. Within Upplands Väsby Municipality, there is broad support for this change, which will take place in phases starting January 1, 2027.

When fully staffed, we will have approximately 30 employees working within the department.

The operations will be conducted in our own newly renovated premises, along with a completely new fleet of vehicles adapted for the purpose.

About the position

We offer varied work with the opportunity to put your own stamp on the operations. The work will involve publicly funded travel for Upplands Väsby Municipality. You will plan routes in our system, schedule drivers, handle changes, and maintain ongoing dialogue with customers and drivers. You should have good local knowledge of Upplands Väsby Municipality and experience from the transport/logistics industry. You feel a drive to develop and create a good workplace for yourself and your colleagues.

You will also be responsible for daily staff planning, recruitment, and training for our drivers. We are looking for someone who wants to be a role model, provide good customer service, and has the ability to plan while also handling rapid changes.

You will work closely with coordinators, drivers, and the Head of Public Transport. Courtesy, accessibility, and the customer in focus are our guiding stars in daily work.

The role requires a background check and an extract from the criminal record register.

• Has a background as a traffic controller or similar
• Has good administrative skills and system proficiency
• Is meticulous and structured, and accustomed to prioritizing in an operational environment
• Has a calm and solution-oriented approach, even when conditions change rapidly
• Thrives in a relationship-building role with many contact points

Experience working in passenger transport planning systems is an advantage.

As a person, you are stable, showing calm in pressurized situations and in how you interact with others. Furthermore, you are considerate and solution-oriented, which to us means you are a role model in meetings with all our customers and other stakeholders. We also believe that you need to be structured to fit the role, demonstrated by following routines and ensuring a secure delivery every day.
