Registered Nurse for IES Jönköping (Substitute Position)
Internationella Engelska Skolan i Sverige ABJönköpings län, Jönköping
Previous experience is desired
Are you a registered nurse passionate about promoting the health of children and young people?
At International English School (IES) Jönköping, we are dedicated to creating a safe, orderly, and stimulating environment where every student is given the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Our school is a vibrant, multicultural workplace covering grades F-9. We are proud of our international atmosphere, where our 850 students and 130 employees together create a dynamic environment characterized by collaboration and professionalism. We are now looking for a school nurse who wants to become a key player in our student health team.
About the Role
This is a substitute position primarily for grades 2-5, with a workload of 50–80%. The employment begins on August 3rd and starts with a 6-month probationary period with the aim of transitioning into a permanent position.
As a school nurse with us, you work primarily with health promotion and prevention. Your main responsibilities include:
- Medical Responsibility: You are responsible for and plan the medical aspects of student health in close collaboration with the school doctor and school management.
- Collaboration: You work closely with our Student Care Team (EHT), school staff, guardians, and external actors to create the best possible conditions for students' health, development, and learning.
- Health Promotion: You inform and educate about healthy lifestyle habits at the individual, group, and school levels, and support the pedagogical work with your nursing and medical competence.
- Baseline Program & Reception: Planned health conversations and health checks according to the baseline program, vaccinations, and open reception for basic healthcare interventions and counseling.
Who Are You?
We are looking for you who are a registered nurse, preferably with further education as a district nurse, pediatric nurse, or equivalent specialist training.
Language: The majority of student health work and contact with authorities take place in Swedish. Therefore, it is not a hindrance if your English is a bit rough or not perfect – the most important thing is your professional competence and your commitment to the students.
As a person, you are a team player who is confident in planning and prioritizing your work, while meeting students and guardians with empathy, clarity, and professionalism.
What We Offer
IES Jönköping offers a structured work environment with strong support and clear frameworks:
- A Safe Start: To ensure you get the best possible start, there are two qualified and experienced school nurses on-site at the school, as well as a coordinating school nurse at the headquarters who supports you during your first year.
- Professional Network: You become part of IES's central network for school nurses, which provides access to experience sharing, further education, and collegial support.
- Benefits: Competitive salary, collective agreement (Vision), and a daily pedagogical lunch in a positive work environment.
Student Safety
The safety of our students is our highest priority. All candidates who proceed in the process will undergo a background check from the police (extract from the criminal record). We will also request three references verified via BankID.
