About the role

The medical component of the school health service has a health-promoting and preventive mandate in accordance with the base program, the Education Act, and the National Board of Health and Welfare's guidelines. The work is based on science and proven experience and is a central part of the school's student health team.

As a school nurse, you work closely with students and staff and are a visible and accessible part of the operation. You are present in everyday life, work actively in a proactive manner, and contribute to creating a safe and health-promoting school environment. Parents often turn to you with questions and concerns regarding their children. You are part of the student health team and play a key role in the joint work for students' well-being and development.

Responsibilities

In the role of school nurse, you will among other things:

• Monitor students' health development over time.
• Conduct health conversations and work with the school's vaccination program.
• Organize and coordinate the school doctor's clinic.
• Work based on the base program for the medical component of the student health service.
• Perform simple healthcare interventions.

You collaborate closely with the school's other school nurse, and together you carry out your mandate independently, supported by the school's systematic quality work. You actively participate in the student health team's meetings and collaborate with teachers and other professionals regarding students at both the school group and individual levels.

An important part of the work is the preventive and health-promoting perspective, where you, for example, go into classrooms and contribute to various forms of collaboration regarding students' learning and health.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with specialized training in one of the following areas:

• School nurse
• Community health nurse (District nurse)
• Health care for children and adolescents

Experience working as a school nurse, preferably in primary school or other school forms, is meritorious. Broader experience from healthcare is also an advantage.
