Job Description

We are currently looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer with at least 5-7 years of experience for a client assignment in Lund.

In the role of Hardware Engineer, you will take on broad responsibilities spanning the entire product development cycle. Your daily work will focus largely on schematic design and layout using tools such as Altium or KiCad, but extend far beyond the drawing board. By utilizing advanced test instruments and modern verification methods, you ensure that the electronic design maintains the highest quality and performance standards.

A central part of the role involves actively supporting design reviews where you, with your sharp eye for detail, identify technical weaknesses and propose effective solutions. You are also responsible for ensuring the design meets strict requirements regarding EMI, EMC, and ESD, while handling critical aspects of thermal design (thermal management).

The work is characterized by close collaboration and coordination, working closely with engineers and managers across various departments. You will work integrated with both hardware (HW) and radio technology (RF) functions, and provide support to the project manager to ensure that every solution meets the high demands for product and production quality.

As a consultant at Randstad, you become part of our network of experts while working on-site at our client's premises in Lund. The assignment is initially for 6 months, starting in July and running until the end of December, with good opportunities for extension.

The assignment will be performed on-site in Lund, 100%, 5 days a week.

Working hours: 08.00 - 17.00

Responsibilities

• Good experience in electronic design.
• Experience with schematic and layout design, preferably in Altium or KiCad.
• Proficiency in working with test instruments, methods, and tools to verify electronic design.
• Experience supporting design reviews, identifying weaknesses, and proposing technical solutions.
• Good knowledge of methods and requirements for EMI, EMC, and ESD, as well as thermal management in electronic design.
• Knowledge of BT/Wi-Fi/Mobile connectivity and GNSS is desirable.
• Ability to collaborate closely with engineers and suppliers at various locations, as well as coordinate with other functions such as HW, RF, project managers, and management to ensure product and production quality.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in electronic design with a focus on the entire development chain.
• High competence in schematic design and layout, with practical experience using tools such as Altium Designer or KiCad.
• Good familiarity with lab work, including the use of test instruments, measurement methods, and tools to verify and validate electronic design.
• Analytical ability to participate in design reviews, identify technical weaknesses, and proactively propose solutions.
• Deep technical knowledge of methods and requirements for EMI, EMC, and ESD, as well as understanding of thermal management in complex designs.
• Strong collaborative skills and experience coordinating work with both internal functions (such as HW, RF, and project management) and external suppliers in an international environment.

Desirable:

• Knowledge in wireless communication and connectivity, specifically Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular connectivity, and GNSS, is highly desirable.
