F 16 is responsible for the Uppsala garrison and the operation of Uppsala Airport. The wing is also responsible for the 24/7, year-round surveillance of Swedish airspace and leads the Air Force's combat aircraft in the air. You will become part of a military organization undergoing significant change and development due to the international situation and Sweden's NATO membership. F 16 is growing, and we are now looking for new colleagues who want to join our development journey!

About the unit

Uppland Wing (F 16) is looking for you who want to work as a security guard with the workplace in Hästveda. The main task of the unit is operational readiness and training of war establishment units. The 161st Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion operates 24/7, year-round, and at several locations in Sweden, and is a part of the defense of Swedish territory. The placement will be at the Staff Company, which belongs to the 161st Stril Battalion, and the activity takes place at one of the Swedish Armed Forces' facilities in Hässleholm Municipality.

Main duties

In the daily role as a security guard, you will perform tasks such as guarding, patrolling, and controlling protected objects within the unit's area of responsibility. The position is a shift work with weekend duty included, meaning the working hours are 35 hours per week.

In your employment, you may have the opportunity to apply for other positions within the platoon. Examples of such positions include:

K9 Handler: The K9 handler is responsible for the group's dog, which is one of our most important sensors. This places high demands on you regarding endurance and judgment.

Combat Medic: The combat medic receives specialized training in medical care to be able to take care of the wounded. Being a combat medic is a responsible position, as it is you who can take care of your injured comrades.

Section Commander: The section commander leads the group, which places demands on judgment, initiative, and responsibility. The section commander is usually an experienced soldier who receives section commander training and primarily training in security force service to be able to lead the group independently. Since the group must be able to operate over large areas, high demands are placed on the section commander's ability to act independently, as the group usually solves tasks alone.

Training during working hours is included to maintain and improve your physical condition. The work also implies that you have international service obligation. The position requires good physical standards, professionalism, flexibility, and camaraderie. You are expected to take responsibility for your own development and support your colleagues.

Within the Swedish Armed Forces, we always work as a team. Our organization is built on cooperation, adaptability, and a shared responsibility for the whole. This means that we are all ready to support each other, sometimes even outside our own competence and comfort zones. Therefore, as an employee, you may sometimes be faced with new types of tasks. This is a natural part of working in the Swedish Armed Forces, which serves both the agency and the employee's development well, and you will never be given a task for which you do not have the prerequisites to handle.
