Hällsboskolan Umeå
Hällsboskolan Umeå is a ten-year state special school under the Swedish National Agency for Special Needs Education and Schools.
The school admits students with severe speech and language disorders from all over the country. The school has a clear focus on language-supporting and language-developing teaching and adapts the school day based on the students' individual needs. The teaching is based on the special school ordinance according to the basic or adapted curriculum of the compulsory school.
The school's goal is for students to have the prerequisites to achieve knowledge goals, be active participants in various social contexts, and develop as individuals.
We have skilled and dedicated employees with high competence. The language-developing approach permeates our pedagogical work, and there is a student-centered student health team.

Job Responsibilities
We are looking for a teacher with broad subject competence for middle and upper secondary levels who wishes to combine their role by working 80% as a teacher and 20% in study and career guidance.
As a teacher with us, you work with knowledgeable and experienced colleagues in the daily work of adapting for an accessible learning environment. In teaching, you work together with colleagues to support students' knowledge development and goal fulfillment.
We have small teaching groups to create good conditions for learning and for each student to feel included and develop their communicative ability and language together with others. Various forms of documentation are relevant - for example, special support and assessments.
In the SYV (Study and Career Guidance) role, you work in the special school with individual and/or group guidance. You provide information about future studies and the working life. From a student health perspective, you participate with a focus on study guidance and also in the collegial work of supporting the student's study situation and making appropriate educational choices.
At the school, you are responsible for the students' individual study guidance. In collaboration with the school's pedagogues, you are responsible for information about different study programs and other methods to create a meeting between the student and future working life. Guidance counselors and pedagogues work together in a broad perspective on study and career guidance. You participate in the transfer of students from the special school to upper secondary school.
Working with us requires close cooperation with the students' guardians as well as other external actors who are important for the students' health and development.
You will also have support from a special needs educator, IT-pedagogue, counselor, psychologist, school nurse, and speech therapist.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who:
Education:
- Have a teacher's license with broad subject competence and eligibility to teach students at the special school.
Work Experience:
- Experience working at a special school as a teacher and study and career guidance counselor for the target group of students with severe speech and language disorders in middle and upper secondary levels.
Language Skills/Communication Methods:
- You express yourself well in speech and writing.
IT Skills:
- Good IT skills.
It is meritorious if you have:
- Experience working with students with speech disorders and other neuropsychiatric disabilities both in the role of teacher and study and career guidance counselor.
- Experience working with students in need of special support.
- Experience using IT and media in meetings with students both in groups and individually.
- Experience working with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication).
Other Knowledge:
- You have the ability to see each individual student's prerequisites and opportunities.
Personal Qualities:
- You are flexible in your working method, solution-oriented, and have experience collaborating in work teams regarding student groups.
- You contribute, both individually and together with others, to creating a safe and trusting environment based on mutual respect and good relationships.
- You have personal maturity, integrity, and are proactive.
- You have good communicative and collaborative skills.

Employment Type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 6 months or longer.
