Do you want to work close to the public in one of Sweden's most distinctive cultural environments?

Kultur Avesta is looking for a temporary museum coordinator with a focus on programs, public activities, and events for Verket – Avesta's industrial history museum and home to the international contemporary art exhibition Avesta Art.

Verket is a place where industrial history, contemporary art, technology, and stories meet in a large-scale and evocative industrial environment. Here we welcome school classes, families, associations, companies, art audiences, and curious visitors. Every year, the building is filled with exhibitions, tours, educational activities, lectures, workshops, events, and public programs.

Now we are looking for you who want to help create well-functioning public experiences – from idea and planning to practical implementation on site.

About the position

As a museum coordinator, you work operationally and coordinatively with Verket's public activities. You plan, produce, implement, and follow up on programs, activities, and events in Verket's and Avesta Art's environments.

The role is about getting many parts to work together: content, audience flows, staffing, technology, hospitality, communication, premises, external participants, and practical details. You are an important link between idea and implementation and contribute to ensuring that visitors, participants, and partners meet a professional, secure, and welcoming operation.

The position is a fixed-term full-time temporary assignment for 5 months, with the possibility of some extension, and belongs to Kultur Avesta's operations at Verket.

Responsibilities

The role includes, among other things:

• coordinating public program points, events, and activities
• planning and coordinating practical prerequisites for program activities
• compiling resource needs, staffing requirements, and technical needs
• identifying tasks before, during, and after public activities
• contributing to production planning and schedules for programs and events
• contacting, booking, and coordinating external actors, participants, and partners
• acting as a program host for lectures, tours, conversations, workshops, and other public arrangements
• carrying out program activities, public events, and rentals
• preparing premises for public events
• handling simpler sound technology, technical needs, and practical issues on site
• ensuring that premises, technology, signage, flows, and audience reception function before implementation
• contributing to a secure, professional, and welcoming hospitality
• supporting educational activities in public contexts
• contributing to the planning of public flows for school programs, family activities, tours, and larger events
• following up on implemented activities and contributing to the development of working methods and routines

The work is practical and public-facing. You need to be able to set up environments with tables, chairs, signage, and simpler technology. Verket is a large, raw, and partially uninsulated industrial environment with many different rooms and floors, which means the role requires both good organizational skills and practical drive. Evening and weekend work occurs.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

• several years of experience in creating, producing, and implementing public experiences, program activities, events, or conferences
• vocational training, or academic education relevant to the assignment
• experience from, for example, museums, cultural institutions, performing arts, visitor attractions, conference operations, or other public activities
• experience in coordinating events, logistics, resources, schedules, and workflows
• experience in collaborating with external actors and partners
• Category B driver's license

It is meritorious if you have experience working with public activities in cultural-historical environments, art environments, or larger visitor attractions. It is also meritorious if you have experience with simpler sound technology, hospitality, bookings, and practical event production.

Personal qualities

To thrive in the role, you need to be independent, structured, and confident in taking responsibility for both planning and implementation. You have good collaboration skills and can communicate clearly with colleagues, participants, visitors, and external actors.

You are solution-oriented, practical, and flexible when conditions change. You can keep many details together without losing the big picture and have the ability to create order, security, and clarity in public situations.
