Job Description

AFRY is looking for engaged environmental consultants who want to shape a sustainable future and contribute to the green transition. We are currently looking for our new colleague within nature environment, contaminated areas, EIA/permits, cultural heritage, hydrogeology, and hydrology, based at our office in Sundsvall. We are primarily looking for senior and mid-level colleagues, but junior candidates are also considered. We place great emphasis on how you as a person will contribute to and complement our team.

Our Business Area Environment and Sustainability operates throughout Sweden, with customers in both the private, municipal, and public sectors. We work with, among other things, closed and active mines, power line projects, urban development, landfill operations, roads and railways, fossil-free steel, solar power, as well as onshore and offshore wind power. Our environmental competence also supports other business areas within industry, energy, and infrastructure at AFRY.

As an environmental consultant, your tasks will vary, and you will participate in projects at both local and national levels. The assignments range from fieldwork and surveys, societal development, environmental technical ground investigations, remediation investigations, clean-ups, environmental controls, risk assessments, and handling of notification and permit cases. You can work within contaminated land, ecology/nature value surveys, environmental impact assessments, consultations, and permit cases, as well as holistically within sustainability.

In this role, you are given significant personal responsibility and you get to participate in the entire process – from planning to execution – and you always work in a team with your colleagues both locally and nationally.

Qualifications

Our requirements for candidate selection are that you have:

• Location Sundsvall with on-site work.
• An academic, scientific, or technical education with a degree in the environmental field. We also welcome applicants with vocational training in environmental issues and contaminated areas.
• Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
• Basic knowledge of Swedish environmental legislation.
• Enjoy working in the field, which also involves some travel to different locations in the country.
• A valid driver's license (Category B).

The following are meritorious and will be prioritized in the selection of candidates:

• Previous experience working within the environmental field.
• Previous experience as a consultant.
• Experience with nature value surveys or sampling of soil, groundwater, and surface water, or SGF certification courses.
• Experience working as a project manager or assignment manager.
• Have own customer contacts or can provide references from previous work.
