The LAR clinic (Laromottagningen) is a sub-clinic within psychiatric outpatient care. Here, dedicated nurses, doctors, social workers, care and support coordinators, care administrators, and unit managers work together to create good care and a positive work environment.

The Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Dependence (LARO) has the mandate to investigate and treat individuals in Värmland County who have documented opioid dependence for more than one year, as well as to work in a consultative capacity. The clinic is located in the Psychiatry Building at the Central Hospital in Karlstad.

The LAR clinic is a well-functioning unit with competent staff who are passionate about their mission.

We are in an interesting position within Region Värmland regarding addiction care, particularly based on the proposals from the Co-morbidity Commission. The national work is in an expansion phase, and LAR treatment is included in the commission's partial report as a prioritized treatment direction.

The employment is valid until 2026-12-31, with the possibility of extension.

Your responsibilities

As a psychiatric nurse or nurse at the LAR clinic, you are responsible for your patients and plan your day yourself based on the needs of the patients and the operations. We work in teams and help each other when needed.

The tasks include dispensing medication, medication follow-up, sample collection, and counseling interventions with patients. Contact with neighboring care providers and social services is also part of the duties. Collaboration with other actors is a central part of working with our patients, and collaboration occurs with, among others, the county's psychiatric outpatient clinics, the infectious disease clinic, and the addiction center.

You will be involved in the entire care process for patients, starting with sample collection and the initiation of substitution medication. In the beginning of treatment, patients are required to come daily to receive their medication. Subsequently, an individual assessment is made regarding how often patients need to visit the clinic. Our work follows the guidelines of the National Board of Health and Welfare, and we work based on the nationally developed care and intervention program for harmful use and addiction.

Your knowledge and competencies

We are looking for you who have a nursing education or are a specialized psychiatric nurse.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability and are looking for you who thrive in collaboration with others and have an easy time building good relationships due to your empathetic nature. You are skilled at organizing your work efficiently, can work independently, and adapt easily to different situations. Your flexibility and ability to switch between tasks make you a valuable team member.

Experience in psychiatry and/or addiction issues is meritorious. We would appreciate it if you had knowledge of the Cosmic system.
