Work with the whole family in focus at the pediatric ward

On the pediatric ward, we work with the whole family in focus, ensuring that children and parents are separated as little as possible. It is exciting work where we meet and care for all children up to 18 years old and meet the needs of the entire family. The ward operates on three shifts.

Region Gävleborg was the first in the country to be certified for child-adapted care. This is an ongoing effort to improve the care of the child and their family.

Job Responsibilities

In pediatric and adolescent healthcare, we work together in a tightly knit team where we jointly develop and evaluate our operations. We always work based on the best interests of the children and families, in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and NOBAB standards. We also collaborate with other units regarding children in healthcare, such as maternity, neonatal care, the emergency department, and the ICU.

As a nurse with us, you will work with:

• Standard tasks on the ward, such as rounds, sampling, and examinations.
• Planning and documentation of the child's care period.
• Operation of medical technical equipment.
• Emergency care, with readiness to respond to calls for maternity/operating room/emergency department.
• Development work and areas of responsibility.
• Supporting guardians in understanding the child's needs and becoming confident and independent in caring for their child.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a big heart and a calm presence. You have an empathetic basic attitude and an easy way of creating calm around you. You are stable and have the ability to maintain focus even when the situation is complex. You have a reflective and curious approach to care and are accustomed to meeting people in vulnerable situations.

You are a person who collaborates well with others; you are receptive and skilled at communicating. In this role, it is important that you are calm, attentive, and accommodating in your interactions. You take responsibility for your tasks and drive processes forward. Since sudden changes may occur, you must also be adaptable and able to quickly change your approach.

In the role of nurse, you must:

• Be a licensed nurse with the right to work in Swedish healthcare.

Experience from working in pediatric and emergency care is meritorious but not a requirement.
