The position of Environmental Protection Officer is located within the Environmental Unit, where a team of approximately 20 professionals handles supervision and permitting under the Environmental Code regarding environmentally hazardous activities, as well as supervision and grant issues concerning contaminated sites. The role also includes supervisory guidance for the county's municipalities and supervision under the Seveso legislation.

The employment period is 12 months.

Responsibilities

As an Environmental Protection Officer, you will handle supervision of environmentally hazardous activities in accordance with the Environmental Code. This involves conducting supervisory visits, reviewing environmental reports, and processing incoming cases of various kinds. You will work in a team with experienced officers while maintaining a high degree of independence, holding supervisory responsibility for several sites. Providing supervisory guidance to the municipalities in the county is also a key part of the role.

The job involves extensive dialogue with business operators, municipalities, other authorities, and private individuals. You will also participate in cases handled by other units where environmental protection issues are part of the mandate, as well as in various cross-sectoral groups within the County Administrative Board.

The role covers a wide range of subject areas and competencies. Handling multiple complex cases simultaneously requires strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is structured and meticulous. You drive your cases forward independently while contributing to the development of the team's working methods and collaboration. You possess sound judgment, can make correct assessments from a holistic perspective, and can clearly and simply justify decisions. Your communication skills are strong, and you value professional and respectful treatment of both business operators and colleagues. Building good relationships and trust is important to you. You must have good proficiency in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.

Requirements:

• University education in environmental and health protection, environmental science, or a comparable environmental education.
• Good and current knowledge of the Environmental Code and its application.
• Valid B-class driver's license.

Merits:

• Current experience with supervision under the Environmental Code for environmentally hazardous activities.
• Current experience with agricultural supervision.
