About the Role

We are now looking for a librarian who wants to work with us. In addition to the librarian's regular duties, you will also be part of the journey towards our new library and Gällivare's new meeting place.

The library operations in Gällivare are facing one of its most exciting development journeys. Within a few years, we will move into a completely new library in Gällivare's new multi-activity house, which is currently being built in the city center. This is Gällivare Municipality's largest investment to date – a unique building of 20,575 square meters where culture, sports, leisure, and youth activities meet under one roof. The new multi-activity house will also be one of Sweden's largest wooden buildings. Here, sports and culture will meet on every floor, creating entirely new opportunities for people to meet, be inspired, and experience things together – a shared meeting place for the entire community. Now we are looking for you who want to be part of this journey and who see the library as an opportunity for meetings and inspiration.

Responsibilities

As a librarian with us, you will become an important part of the library's development – both in daily work and in preparation for the future. You will meet people of different ages and life situations and contribute to the library continuing to be an open, welcoming, and inspiring meeting place.

You will, among other things, work with:

• Media management and development of the library's offerings
• Library service and staffing in the library's operations
• Meeting and guiding visitors in information searching and literature questions
• Planning and implementing reading promotion initiatives
• Participating in development work for the library of the future

We are looking for you who want to contribute ideas, engagement, and curiosity to a business that is undergoing development.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree in library and information science or other education that the employer considers equivalent.

It is an advantage if you have experience of library work and reading promotion work, and are accustomed to meeting and handling different target groups. We would like you to have an interest in reading promotion, good literary knowledge, be confident working in digital environments, and enjoy meeting people. As a person, you are proactive and creative. You enjoy collaborating, are flexible, and see opportunities in change and development. Good hospitality and a strong service orientation are qualities we value highly. Personal suitability is given great weight.

In accordance with the National Minority Language Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

A B-class driver's license is an advantage.

Upon employment, an extract from the police's criminal record register will be provided.

Working Hours/Duration

100% permanent position. Probation period of 6 months.

Salary

Monthly salary. We apply individual salary setting – please state your salary requirements.
