Danderyd Gymnasium is one of Stockholm's largest upper secondary schools with approximately 1,400 students. The school consists of four university-preparatory programs (EK, NA, SA, TE) as well as a small adapted upper secondary school. The school also has a successful NIU (National Sports High School) operation, a nationally recruiting mathematics elite training program, and an AST operation within the SA program. The operations function well with various specializations and many fine traditions. Danderyd Gymnasium has high goals, and the vast majority of students continue to higher education.

We take these goals seriously and investigate them regularly. Among other things, we analyze employee surveys and the proportion of first-choice applicants. Regarding our students learning the most, we are careful to ensure this is not measured solely by grades but also includes measures of grade inflation and socioeconomic analyses.

To achieve this objective, we focus primarily on developing teaching in an evidence-informed direction with a cognitive science focus. We offer our teachers in-depth professional development within the field of cognitive science as well as opportunities to practice the craft of teaching.

We are organized in program working groups, and each teacher belongs to a specialization team linked to the classes they teach. This allows us to collaborate systematically around our classes. All teachers are also part of one or more subject groups where there is room to work on purely subject-development issues. As a teacher at Danderyd Gymnasium, one is expected to be an active member of both program and subject groups.

Job Responsibilities

The role consists of two assignments: permanent substitute teacher covering lessons during regular teachers' absence, and caretaker. Depending on your competencies, it is possible to adjust how much of each assignment constitutes the position.

As one of four permanent substitutes, you cover lessons when teachers are absent. We are primarily looking for someone knowledgeable in mathematics to complement the competencies we already have in the work group. The amount of substitution varies greatly depending on daily sickness absence. The assignment also includes assisting with tasks such as exam invigilation and certain administrative duties, such as distributing books and computers.

As one of two caretakers in our staff, you have a broad and responsible assignment where you work closely with both school management and your colleagues to support where needed, for example during school graduations or IT distribution. You have overall responsibility for the school's premises and technology. This means everything from daily maintenance such as fault reports, SBA (School Building Administration), locks and alarms, and minor repairs to contact with craftsmen, suppliers, and students. The role requires a proactive working method where you prevent problems, follow up on actions, and drive improvement proposals to develop our operations.

The position involves varying working hours, mainly weekdays between 07:00-17:00, but evening and weekend work may occur. Some work tasks may also be physically demanding.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Has relevant education and competence or experience that the employer considers equivalent
• Has good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
• Is system-savvy and easily adapts to new digital systems
• Has a B driving license
• Has good knowledge of the Office package

It is an advantage if you:

• Have a degree as an engineer (university or university college) or similar
• Have good mathematical skills
• Have worked in larger schools
• Have experience working as a caretaker or similar
• Have experience with practical repairs and minor construction work

We are looking for someone who works systematically as you plan, organize, and prioritize your work well. You are used to working on parallel projects simultaneously. Furthermore, we believe you like to help others and are service-oriented, meaning you are solution-oriented and have the ability to quickly find solutions to emerging problems. You also need to demonstrate good teamwork skills with a status-free focus on the common goal, while also enjoying working independently, taking own responsibility, and having an eye for detail. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
