Welcome to the Neurology and Stroke Unit in Östersund

About the Unit and Patients

On the Neurology and Stroke Unit, you will meet patients of various ages who are being assessed for or diagnosed with different neurological conditions. You will encounter a mix of acute, chronic, and rehabilitative cases. You will also meet patients in the end-of-life phase, where palliative care is the focus. The unit currently has 18 beds for both acute and planned admissions. As a nurse, you are responsible for a maximum of 6 patients if the unit is fully occupied.

Support and Digital Tools

As a newly hired nurse at the unit, you will receive an individual introduction plan, which includes supervision and present leadership. We work in close dialogue with you as an individual regarding what you need to feel secure, to meet your development goals, and to provide you with the prerequisites for delivering good and safe care.

At the unit, you work with a digital patient overview via a personal tablet that you carry with you throughout your entire shift. The tablet gives you a great overview of your patients, their tasks and conditions, medication lists, as well as the tasks you and your colleagues need to perform. You will also have access to your email and the unit's team communication. You can save your own notes and set up personal favorites as support in your daily work.

Job Responsibilities

As a nurse with us, you work in a team with many other professions. You are responsible for general and specific nursing care and participate in planning the patient's care period and any rehabilitation.

Opportunities for clinical observation (auscultation) are available.
