We are looking for a driven Unit Manager who wants to lead our unique operations within Region Gotland. At our unit, county council, municipal, and public transport authority tasks are combined, offering a fantastic opportunity to work with a holistic perspective and influence the development of the entire island of Gotland.
Your Responsibilities
As Unit Manager, you will have strategic and operational leadership responsibility for the unit, including accountability for personnel, economy, and working environment. You will lead and develop a competent team of eight employees, conduct performance and salary reviews, plan competence development, and create a pleasant workplace where employees thrive and operations function well. You report to the Department Manager and are part of the department's management group, where you actively contribute to the department's continued development.
The role also involves close cooperation with political leadership, where public transport is an important area of development for the governing politics. You will have the opportunity to influence the overarching societal planning process, from sustainability programs and master planning to acute operational issues. The unit is responsible for both general and special public transport, including medical travel, transport service, and school buses, meaning your expertise is needed at all stages of planning and implementation.
An important part of the role is procurement and follow-up of agreements with contractors who perform both general and special public transport. This entails responsibility for contract controls and ensuring the quality and compliance of agreements.
Who are you?
We are looking for you with a university education, equivalent to at least a bachelor's degree, in economics, societal planning, or a corresponding field, or other education that, in combination with experience, can be assessed as equivalent. You have experience in managerial and leadership roles, and it is an advantage if you have experience from the public transport sector and/or have worked in a politically governed organization, as well as experience in leading process development and quality work.
As a person, you possess strong personal maturity that provides a stable foundation for both strategic and operational decisions. You have well-developed social skills and easily create a trust-based collaborative climate, while your communication is clear and purposeful. Good financial awareness means responsible budget and cost management, while strategic ability makes it possible to set long-term goals and identify risks and opportunities. Finally, you have a holistic view that sees the entire operation as a cooperating whole, which is crucial for developing sustainable and attractive public transport on Gotland.
