The Swedish National Heritage Board is Sweden's authority for matters concerning cultural heritage. We work to preserve, use, and develop cultural environments, cultural landscapes, cultural objects, and museums. Our mandate is guided by the government's goals for cultural policy and state cultural heritage work. Our operations are located in Visby, Stockholm, and Tumba, and we also conduct public activities at the visitor site Glimmingehus. We have approximately 250 employees.
The Museum Department consists of 5 units that promote development and collaboration in the museum sector, acting as drivers and supporters in matters concerning cultural objects and museums' work to preserve, use, and develop cultural heritage. The department is also responsible for the operation of Glimmingehus and Swedish Museum Services.
The Unit for Museums in Society is responsible for compiling, disseminating, and building knowledge to support museums as a resource for sustainable societal development. The unit also drives issues concerning the cross-sectoral collaboration of museums and provides support for development through environmental scanning and analysis.
We are now looking for a qualified investigator who wants to contribute to the work of monitoring and strengthening the conditions for museums' societal mission nationally, regionally, and locally. As an investigator, you will, in collaboration with other employees with different competencies, map, analyze, propose, and drive development in museum-related matters.
Your responsibilities
The responsibilities include leading and participating in investigation projects with internal as well as external reference and working groups, preparing and responding to remiss responses from the government and various authorities, project managing government assignments, and organizing and facilitating meetings and seminars with relevant collaboration partners. You will work with both qualitative and quantitative methods, data collection, processing, and analysis, report writing, as well as spreading knowledge materials, promoting experience exchange, and disseminating results. Through analysis and result dissemination – both orally and in writing – you will actively contribute to strengthening the knowledge and interest in the potential of museums and their societal mission among, for example, decision-makers and commissioners.
Your qualifications
We are looking for you who have an academic degree with a focus on, for example, urban planning, political science, cultural geography, data analysis, or equivalent. You have several years of experience in qualified investigative work with both qualitative and quantitative methods, data collection, processing, and analysis, as well as experience working at a state authority or regional administration. You express yourself well and effortlessly in both speech and writing in Swedish and English, have experience in communicative work, and are accustomed to presenting the results of your work in external contexts. Experience of museum work and work with educational platforms or other digital knowledge dissemination is meritorious. You are meticulous, structured, and have good analytical skills. You are ambitious and independent but have good collaboration skills. You are unpretentious, curious, and open to challenges.
