The Libraries on Gotland consist of 10 public libraries spread across the island, with Almedalsbiblioteket as the main library. The department comprises 35 dedicated employees: librarians, library assistants, library administrators, and a coordinator. The department is led by a department manager and an assistant department manager.

The Libraries on Gotland work in accordance with the Library Act to support the development of a democratic society by contributing to knowledge dissemination and free formation of opinion. We achieve this by promoting reading and access to literature, a broad program activity, and serving as a meeting place for everyone. With a new library plan for the period 2026–2029, the libraries' focus will include collegial learning, the development of the democratic mandate, and activities for prioritized groups in various co-creation processes.

The Libraries on Gotland are now seeking a Systems Librarian who wants to contribute to developing and managing our digital library services with the user in focus. In this role, you act as a bridge between library operations and our digital systems and services, for which you have overarching responsibility for management, development, and support. You work closely with both colleagues within the library and external suppliers. At our information desk, you meet and serve library visitors. Your responsibilities

You manage and develop the public libraries' IT systems (the library system Koha, external e-media services, self-service kiosks, and booking systems for computers and group rooms). You are involved in operating the libraries' new web solution, which is currently under development. You liaise with Region Gotland's IT department and suppliers regarding changes, updates, and orders. You carry out minor local improvement measures. You are responsible for collecting and reporting statistics from, for example, the National Library of Sweden and the Swedish Authors' Fund. You assist in building the public libraries' new website together with an external supplier.

You support colleagues through technical support and training, by answering questions and creating instructions and routines. You drive and participate in system implementation, upgrades, and digitalization projects. You are the contact person for system suppliers, participate in relevant networks, and are responsible for monitoring developments in the field. You perform catalog maintenance and participate in procurement work.

You also work in the library room, where you, for example, meet borrowers and other visitors, and participate in other routine daily tasks.

Who are you?

You do not need to be a trained librarian, but experience working in a library is advantageous.

The position requires that you can handle and enjoy juggling many balls at once. You must be able to communicate orally and in writing in good Swedish and English.

It is advantageous if you have experience in:

• working in the library system Koha or another open-source library system
• working with library catalogs (MARC 21)
• performing database searches using SQL
• working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

You need to be service-oriented and understand the value of good treatment of all people. You have excellent collaboration skills. You have a pedagogical approach and view your colleagues' input as a tool for your success in the work. You see problem-solving as a fun challenge. We also value that you are independent, proactive, and work in a structured manner. You have a stable personality. You are development-oriented and quality-conscious. You strive to create and maintain good relationships.
