About the position

As a contact nurse with us, you primarily care for patients with bladder cancer and prostate cancer. Karolinska has the regional responsibility for patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer undergoing robot-assisted cystectomy. Patients with prostate cancer are investigated and treated here. The contact nurse is an important part of the team surrounding these patients and has overall responsibility throughout the entire care chain.

The contact nurse is responsible for creating accessibility, continuity, security, and strengthening the patient's opportunities for participation in care. The role also includes providing support for normal crisis reactions to patients and relatives. Your work as a contact nurse consists largely of supportive and informative conversations during clinic visits and telephone counseling.

We work according to the national description of duties for contact nurses. The contact nurse participates in diagnosis notifications and multidisciplinary conferences, creates/revises "My Care Plan", assesses the need for cancer rehabilitation, and creates a rehabilitation plan.

You will have your own calendar where you are responsible for following up on your patients at different stages. Your work is both independent and in close collaboration with your colleagues in the team, other professions, and other units.

The position contributes to the unit's 24/7 mission by working two weekend shifts per month.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Swedish nursing license.
• Some years of work experience as a nurse.

Merits:

• Experience as a nurse within urology or cancer care.
• Experience with the medical record systems TakeCare and TeleQ.
• Specialist education in surgery, oncology, or other equivalent education.
• Completed education as a contact nurse (7.5 ECTS credits).

If you have not yet completed the contact nurse education, we offer the opportunity to do so within the framework of the position.
