More about Streets and Parks and the role of Engineer specializing in Lighting within Street Maintenance

Streets and Parks has 108 employees, with the planning function located at the city hall area in central Umeå. The Street Maintenance department consists of just over 45 people and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the municipality's streets, squares, and cycle paths on public land.

As an Engineer specializing in lighting within Street Maintenance, you will play a key role in developing and managing Umeå by ensuring a safe, functional, and sustainable lighting infrastructure. You will work on further developing and maintaining the municipality's existing lighting network, actively contributing to the city's long-term development.

In this role, you are responsible for planning and project management of reinvestment measures within the lighting network in Umeå Municipality, in close collaboration with the Street Maintenance's operations engineer for lighting. You are also responsible for procurement and implementation of larger reinvestment projects.

You represent Street Maintenance in lighting matters within Streets and Parks' street and park projects, acting as technical support to project managers and monitoring operation and management issues related to electricity and lighting. The work includes reviewing documentation such as drawings and technical descriptions, as well as participating in design and construction meetings and inspections.

The assignment also involves following developments in the technical field, contributing to the updating of Streets and Parks' technical handbook, and preparing decision support materials for political decisions.

The position is broad and involves a coordinating role with many contacts, both internally and externally. On-call duties may occur.

About you

Requirements

• University education in electrical engineering, or alternatively a high school engineering degree with the mentioned specialization or equivalent knowledge acquired in other ways.
• A few years of experience from work with similar tasks.
• Knowledge of current legislation.
• Experience in reviewing and understanding light calculations from DIALux or similar software.
• Fluent Swedish in both speech and writing, as well as good knowledge of English.
• Valid driver's license (Category B).
