Are you our new Service Technician in Västerås?

Your future role
You will report to Bakhtiar Amin (Production Manager) and work together in a group with other competent and engaged colleagues who will help you integrate into the work and team in the best possible way.
You will work with ER1 and Regina trains. The role involves performing troubleshooting and maintenance of the vehicles and assessing their traffic safety condition. You must be able to follow instructions and carry out maintenance and commissioning according to these.
The position also includes:
- Performing maintenance, corrective, preventive, and repair of collision damage on vehicles.
- Shunting vehicles within the depot area.
- Work is carried out in accordance with work orders and instructions, based on two-week planning in the existing systems.
- Registering and documenting information in our current systems regarding e.g., action text, materials used, etc.
- Performing troubleshooting and repairs on ER1 and Regina, and carrying out corrections of electrical and mechanical faults on the vehicles.
- Ensuring compliance with the requirements of the policy for environment, health, safety, and quality.
- Working according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Alstom Railway Safety Policy.
Who are you?
To succeed as a Service Technician, you need strong technical competence and an eye for detail.
You need to be structured and thrive working according to clear processes, while also working towards deadlines to ensure trains are released on time. You should have good organizational and planning skills, as well as be analytical and interested in technical troubleshooting. Attention to detail and a sense of responsibility are important traits, given that the service technician's work directly impacts passenger safety and health.
Good communication and collaboration skills are crucial, as the role involves close cooperation with technicians and other staff at the depot. Additionally, good leadership skills are advantageous, as they contribute to creating structure and efficiency in the work. Flexibility is key as different situations may arise during the day, and your ability to quickly adapt and take initiative ensures smooth workflows and high quality in the maintenance of ER1 and Regina trains.
To succeed in the role:
We value passion and attitude over experience. That is why we do not expect you to have all the skills. Instead, we have listed some traits that we believe will help you succeed and grow in this role:
- Education/experience or a strong passion for electrical/mechanical engineering, technology, and troubleshooting.
- Experience or understanding of technical work in the aviation, industrial, or vehicle industry, or similar fields where repair and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and digital control systems were part of your daily routine.
- We would prefer that you are accustomed to assembling electrical and mechanical components according to drawings and instructions.
- Good knowledge in electrical systems is a big plus.
- Good computer skills and ability to use IT tools in daily work.
- Unhindered ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
To become an authorized service technician, you need to go through Alstom's free internal training program and a medical health examination, which Alstom arranges. You will work day shifts.
