To our Animal Unit, we are now looking for a new colleague for a temporary position of approximately nine months, primarily working within the animal welfare sector. Since the operations are event-driven, the tasks may be adapted to the needs of the business.

Job Responsibilities

You will be part of a team handling cases and supervision according to the Animal Welfare Act. This includes, among other things, pre-approval of animal housing facilities, routine animal welfare inspections, handling complaints, and follow-up when deficiencies are identified. The role involves reviewing permits for activities involving animals. The team also handles case management and supervision of food in primary production and applications for pre-approval of animal housing facilities. The tasks also include information and collaboration with various stakeholders such as the general public, animal owners, other authorities, and organizations. Since the position is a temporary vacancy, the tasks may be adapted to your knowledge and experience, but the focus is on administrative duties.

Other areas of work may also become relevant, so you must have an interest and willingness to work within the unit's other operational areas.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have an academic education, for example, as an agronomist with a focus on livestock, a farm manager with a focus on animal husbandry, a program in ethology and animal welfare, or other education that we consider relevant.

You have good knowledge of current legislation, such as animal welfare legislation, supervision laws, and administrative law.

Experience working with animal welfare at a county administrative board is an advantage.

As a person, you need to have good communication skills, be flexible, and enjoy challenges. To succeed in the job and to thrive in the unit, you must be comfortable in the role of a public official. Since work in this operational area can sometimes be psychologically demanding, it is important that you have personal maturity, are secure in yourself, and can distinguish between the personal and the professional. You are required to be calm, stable, and controlled in stressful and pressured situations, and you must have an empathetic ability to put yourself in someone else's perspective. This means that you are objective, factual, and accommodating in your approach, while still being able to set the requirements necessary to achieve good animal husbandry.

A Category B driver's license is required.
