The Department of Culture and Media Studies belongs to Umeå University's Faculty of Humanities and has approximately 70 employees. A unique combination of disciplines makes the department a creative environment at the intersection of art, culture, literature, and media. Intermittent employment means you may be offered employment during individual short-term assignments within a framework period. These assignments are time-limited in accordance with Section 5, Paragraph 1 of the Swedish Employment Protection Act (LAS).

Being on call in this manner means that a new employment relationship begins each time you are offered and accept a work assignment.

We are currently seeking 3-5 employees who can work during the framework period from 2026-08-01 to 2027-01-31, should operational needs arise.

Main responsibilities

The duties include online teaching, seminar leadership, and supervision at the undergraduate level, as well as associated educational administration. The teaching takes place on independent courses in Art History and Visual Studies.

Qualifications

To be eligible for employment, you must hold a degree at the Master's level or higher in Art History and Visual Studies, Art History, or equivalent.

Good proficiency in Swedish or another Scandinavian language, as well as English, both spoken and written, is required. Additionally, the ability to teach in Swedish or another Scandinavian language is a requirement for the position.

Merits

A PhD in Art History and Visual Studies or Art History, or equivalent scientific competence, is considered an asset.

Previous experience in higher education teaching, particularly in online teaching, along with related experience in educational administration, is also considered an asset.
