The Workplace

Department 52 is part of Stockholm Addiction Center's Acute and Inpatient Care and is located at S:t Göran's Hospital. It is a locked, specialized inpatient unit with 20 care beds. Patients over 18 years old (primarily men) arrive here either urgently or by referral to receive withdrawal treatment, as well as treatment/stabilization of psychiatric and somatic conditions related to drugs and medication. Patients are treated under various legal frameworks, such as HSL (Health and Medical Services Act), LPT (Care of Mentally Disturbed Persons Act), or LVM (Compulsory Mental Care Act).

The Role

As a nurse here, you will have a highly varied and stimulating job where personal responsibility alternates with collegial collaboration. You are responsible for planning, implementing, leading, and documenting nursing care. As you gain more experience and confidence in your clinical role, you will contribute to the clinic's educational mission by supervising future nurses doing their clinical placements (VFU) with us. Other common tasks include medication administration, counseling, venous blood sampling, wound care, and intramuscular injections. We also work with overdose prevention and the distribution of naloxone.

Employment Terms

Permanent position, full-time or part-time, two-shift system (day/evening). We work two weekends out of five. An introduction tailored specifically to you based on your previous experience and individual needs. Selection and interviews are conducted continuously. Probationary employment may apply.

Stockholm Addiction Center applies alcohol and drug testing as well as extracts from the suspicion and criminal record registers prior to new employment.

The position will be filled provided it does not need to be reserved for internal transfer, according to current regulations.

In patient-facing work within Stockholm County Council (SLSO):

- A register check is applied before a decision on employment is made, according to SLSO's overarching guidelines for register checks upon employment.

- Employees who will have patient contact must undergo a pre-employment health examination, according to current directives, which is conducted through occupational health services before employment.

- In addition to a Swedish professional license, good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is required. The same requirements are guiding for non-licensed staff with patient contact.
