About the Workplace

You will be employed by Unga Örnar Bomhus, based at the Brynjan Youth Center, which will be your primary workplace. However, the work is carried out at several of Gävle's youth centers, where you will collaborate closely with both staff and young people.

Gävle Municipality has nine association-run youth centers that serve as important open meeting places for children and young people. Each operation has its own conditions, strengths, and challenges. In this role, you will have a unique opportunity to work across the municipality and contribute to developing youth center activities throughout Gävle.

Job Responsibilities

Gävle Municipality has nine association-run youth centers that are important meeting places for many children and young people. We now see a need to strengthen staff competence in preventing and counteracting violence, as well as handling the socioeconomic challenges that young people face today.

In the role of Project Manager, you will:

• Plan and implement training initiatives for staff at the youth centers.
• Collaborate closely with the operations and participate in open youth activities.
• Work strategically to prevent violence and reduce social exclusion.
• Contribute to competence development in areas such as violence prevention, social and situational prevention, interaction, and gender equality.

The goal is to create safe environments where children and young people are given the opportunity to develop, feel hopeful about the future, and strengthen their independence. Gävle Municipality works with the violence prevention program MVP (Mentors in Violence Prevention). The work within the youth centers began in 2025 and is now to be further developed. You will:

• Receive basic training in MVP from BIG.
• Participate in advanced training via the organization MÄN.
• Be responsible for training and supporting staff at youth centers in Valbo, Bergby, Strömsbro, Forsbacka, Hedesunda, and Sätra.
• Continue development work at the youth centers in Brynäs, Bomhus, and Andersberg.
• Monitor staff's values-based work and knowledge development during 2026–2027.

Working hours are varied and include both day and evening work. You will primarily work close to the operations and support each youth center in their development work.

You will be part of a training team together with BIG in Gävle and collaborate closely with the directors of the youth centers.

Employment

• Employment type: Fixed-term employment (special).
• Scope: Full-time.
• Employment will take place in August/September 2026, fixed-term.
• Employer: Unga Örnar Bomhus (Brynjan Youth Center).
• Salary: According to collective agreement.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Class B driver's license and access to a car.
• Academic education in behavioral science, social work, youth pedagogy, or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of youth center operations and socioeconomic exclusion.

Merits include:

• Experience with MVP (Mentors in Violence Prevention).
• Experience in project management.
• Involvement in association life.
• Experience in training children, young people, or adults.
• Knowledge of gender equality and gender issues.
• Multilingualism in addition to Swedish and English.
