About Us

The Intensive Care Unit in Huddinge is part of the Perioperative Medicine and Intensive Care Function (PMI). In our functional facilities, we care for patients of all ages, including small children. On our intensive care unit, we take care of patients needing both general intensive care and those requiring highly specialized intensive care. The highly specialized assignments include, among others, intensive care for liver failure where transplantation may be indicated, advanced esophageal surgery, and intensive care for children after liver transplantation. We also care for a large flow of patients who have undergone major upper abdominal surgery, and we handle all of Stockholm's acute ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) flow. Patients with advanced hematological, cardiological, and infectious conditions are common on the ward, and together with the Infectious Diseases Clinic, we have a national highly specialized assignment for highly contagious diseases.

Since we are a university hospital and education is one of our assignments, you will in your role supervise and educate students and colleagues in various ways. We have a model for practice-based education where we work systematically with supervision of interprofessional teams.

About the Position

In the role of Associate University Nurse in Intensive Care for Liver Diseases and Major Abdominal Surgery including liver transplantation, you are responsible for:

  • supervising, educating, and supporting colleagues, as well as implementing new knowledge and technology
  • being responsible for the design of care routines and updating instructions and guidelines
  • ensuring quality in the onboarding of new staff within the area of responsibility
  • monitoring the specialist field by participating in conferences as well as local, national, and regional networks
  • planning and participating in the implementation of education regarding the area of responsibility together with Nursing Managers (OVC), the Head of Nursing (OVA), and educational leaders
  • following current research in the field of nursing and working to implement person-centered and safe care related to the patient's and family's needs
  • collaborating with intensive care physicians with corresponding areas of responsibility, as well as with the medical technical responsible person and development teams in current areas
  • working in close cooperation with other operations to create good conditions for patients.

Clinical service 80-90% and 10-20% to the assignment. The assignment covers 9 months of the year, clinical work during summer according to schedule guidelines.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Licensed nurse with specialist education in intensive care
  • At least 5 years of experience in intensive care (excluding parental leave and study leave).
  • Supervisor education of at least 7.5 credits

Meritorious:

  • Previous experience working as an Associate University Nurse
  • Previous experience leading projects
