Ward 14 has 18 beds, where kidney patients make up the largest group. In addition to this patient category, we also care for patients with rheumatology and diabetes/endocrinology conditions. As a nurse, you are responsible for the patient's nursing care and for carrying out and following up on medical orders. You collaborate closely with competent colleagues from various professional roles with the goal of providing good and safe care. On the kidney unit, you are part of a team characterized by joy in work and a focus on the patient.

The team consists of doctors, nursing assistants, medical secretaries, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and dietitians, in addition to nurses. Watch the film about what it is like to work at the kidney unit (#).

What we offer

We offer development opportunities and the chance to gain broad competence through internal/external training and rotation within the kidney unit. This may involve working in dialysis, on the ward, or at the outpatient clinic. Active efforts to maintain our good cooperation within kidney care are a key success factor for the organization.

The position involves work during days, evenings, and nights.

Your future workplace

The kidney unit consists of an inpatient ward, a kidney outpatient clinic, and a dialysis unit. The kidney outpatient clinic treats approximately 800 patients, primarily with diagnoses of kidney failure and kidney transplantation. The dialysis unit currently has over one hundred patients receiving treatment via peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis. Many of our patients manage their own treatment, known as self-dialysis. The hemodialysis activity operates in both Kalmar and Oskarshamn.

Kalmar County Hospital is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County. It is an acute care hospital specializing in specialist care, maternity care, and neonatal care. Over 2,300 people work here to provide good care and high patient safety to the county's residents. Our employees' continuous development work leads to good results in several national measurements.
