F 16 is responsible for the Uppsala garrison and the operation of Uppsala Airport. The wing is also responsible for the 24/7 surveillance of Swedish airspace throughout the year and leads the Air Force's combat aircraft in the air. About the Unit

1621. Air Base Company is responsible for maintaining airport operations and belongs to 162. Air Base Battalion. 6211. SKYFFARB Platoon belongs to 1621. Air Base Company and performs the following tasks: Field maintenance service, Airport and base rescue service, duty training for conscripts, CBRN service, and field work service (munitions clearance & runway repair). We are looking for new colleagues for 6211. Airfield Maintenance Platoon (SKYFFARB) within the field maintenance service.

Main Responsibilities

In your position, you work together in the field maintenance group to operate Uppsala Airport at all conflict levels (crisis, war, and peace). As a Field Maintainer, you work primarily as a vehicle driver. You operate the platoon's special vehicles and machinery with high precision and ensure that the airport is free from snow, ice, and other obstacles that could prevent combat aircraft from taking off and landing safely.

In addition to operating the airport, you will perform other tasks such as field work, demolition services, munitions clearance, and heavy transport.

The role of Field Maintainer also means that you are part of the wartime organization as a combatant, participating in combat training among other activities. If you lack military experience but are assessed as suitable, this will be supplemented during your service as the position is in a wartime unit.

Work is normally conducted during daytime hours, Monday to Friday, but evening, night, and 24-hour duties, as well as training exercises, are also part of the role.

• Good physical fitness (equivalent to FMFysS level 2)
• Category B driver's license

• Approved conscript training
• Completed or ongoing duty training within field maintenance
• Experience with Skyffarb/R3 service
• Experience from field maintenance service
• Experience from airport work
• Experience with construction machinery
• Heavy civil driver's license categories (C, D, E) and/or Heavy military driving permits

Other

Employment type: Permanent. The Swedish Armed Forces may apply a six-month probationary period.

Employment level: Full-time

Work location: Uppsala. F 16 also has operations in other locations, which may involve occasional business travel.

Working hours: Mainly daytime. Evening and weekend duties may occur during training exercises.

Start date: As soon as possible, according to agreement.
