Who we are looking for

We are looking for you who hold a Swedish medical license with specialist training in clinical pathology, as well as good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing. Broad diagnostic competence in pathology is desirable. It is an advantage if you have previous experience as a senior consultant physician, and particularly if you have experience in clinical cytology.

What you will be working with

As a specialist physician, you have medical responsibility and are an important part of the production, while driving development within laboratory medicine together with colleagues. You participate in MDK rounds, puncture clinics, internal training sessions, and have an important supervisory role for our ST (specialty training) physicians.

The Laboratory Medicine unit is a county clinic that is part of the Division of Operative and Diagnostic Services. It consists of the sub-areas of clinical chemistry and transfusion medicine, clinical microbiology, and clinical pathology. The laboratories have high quality requirements from relevant authorities and are accredited according to SS-EN ISO 15189:2022 (Medical laboratories - Requirements for quality and competence). Approximately 30 employees work at the clinical pathology unit across several different professional categories, including biomedical analysts, autopsy technicians, cytodiagnosticians, specialist physicians in pathology, and administrative staff. In 2025, approximately 16,000 PADs, 3,000 cytology samples, 2,000 indicated cervical cytologies, 9,000 GCKs, and 200 autopsies were diagnosed.

Information about the position

We offer you a permanent full-time position, daytime hours. Start date by agreement. There is an opportunity to work partially remotely. Region Norrbotten applies individual salary setting according to collective agreements.
