Your responsibilities
WASP is a 5-year multidisciplinary and national project funded by the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems, and Software (WASP) program. As a postdoc, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with top researchers in cybersecurity, networks, AI planning, and cloud systems, both within our department and at other universities in Sweden.
As a postdoc, your primary role will be to conduct research. Teaching may also be included in your duties, comprising no more than one-fifth of your working time.
Your qualifications
To be eligible for the position of postdoc, you must have completed a PhD degree or hold a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD. Your degree must be completed no later than the time the employment decision is made.
It is meritorious if your degree was completed no more than three years before the final application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, a PhD completed earlier may be considered, for example, due to various types of statutory leave.
We are looking for you who have a PhD in computer science, or related fields in systems engineering or mathematics, with solid experience in software development related to the project's areas of interest.
We also believe that you have excellent publications in journals and high-ranking conferences in areas relevant to the work, namely network modeling and protocol emulation in virtualized platforms, security analysis, threat vectors against AI and defense mechanisms in this context, intrusion detection, load balancing in "edge" networks, or overload attacks. Previous experience in developing security mechanisms, virtual testbeds, applying AI or statistical methods for load monitoring or performance adaptation, as well as anomaly detection, is particularly meritorious.
You are excellent in oral and written communication in English and are capable of working with other team members as well as performing independent work. Communication with industrial partners within the AIR2 project often takes place in Swedish, making knowledge of Swedish a merit.
Your workplace
You will work at the Cybersecurity Division (CYBER) at Linköping University (https://liu.se/organisation/liu/ida). Your research will be conducted together with Simin Nadjm-Tehrani, Professor in the field of reliable systems and networks, within the Trustworthy Systems research group. The group participates in several national and international collaborations, including the new research center RESIST (https://liu.se/en/research/resist), where researchers in AI and cybersecurity develop new approaches for cyber-resilient AI to benefit Swedish industry and society.
The Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP) is Sweden's largest single research program in modern times. The program creates a platform for academic research and education in close collaboration with leading Swedish technology-intensive industry. WASP's vision is excellent research and competence in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and software for the benefit of Swedish industry. Cybersecurity research at LiU focuses on securing the most critical functions of the digital society. In a large number of national and European projects, methods are developed for, for example, verification, intrusion detection, and AI-based cybersecurity. The research also covers the protection of critical infrastructure, such as smart grids and secure software supply chains. In the university's cybersecurity lab, vulnerabilities in isolated systems are analyzed to develop new methods in research and to train students and professionals.
